I had a conversation in the 1989 with a guy who I really didn't think the brightest bulb. He kept telling me there will never be a third party in America, that Ross Perot was the only hope and that the two parties kept passing the same issues back and forth, and when one would get in trouble, they looked to the other party to help them out of a jamb.

I still don't subscribe to that theory, but I do see that Democrats are offering the sitting GOP members of Congress a Hail Mary way out of their terminal constipation and sycophancy: voting one last time to impeach Trump, for the record, to say "Look! We're an independent voice in Congress! We slay the monster!"

That is what I regret about impeachment now. I'd bet more than 30 GOP House and more than 10 Senatores (because they are Senatores when they vote against the Wall Man, aren't they?) vote with Democrats to impeach Trump. They won't let it get so out of hand that they convict Trump, but some do want to burnish their middle-of-the-road golfing shoes for 2022 and for posterity.

And we've helped them out of their predicament.

1. There is a difference between

There is a difference between saving x number of individuals, and saving a group numbering x.

The group, the republicans, are responsible. We cannot expect anything from x number of individuals. Even in the best of scenarios once that individual is gone the act becomes meaningless. If we help the group, the group continues. No matter what happens things have to wear their label.
