Trump puts all pardons on hold in fit of rage after being told a self pardon implicates him

Trump is mad a self pardon opens him to civil lawsuits. He's now saying if he can't get a pardon then no one else gets one either!

Works for me!

Trump is reportedly so angry aides are warning him against a self-pardon, he's put all pardons 'on hold'

If you were hoping for a last-minute pardon from President Trump, ABC News' Jonathan Karl has some bad news for you. After last week's assault on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters, right after Trump urged them to march on the Capitol, Trump is not in the pardoning mood, Karl told anchor David Muir on Monday's ABC World News Tonight.

"The president has been warned, David, by some of his lawyers that if he goes ahead and pardons himself, he could be more vulnerable to civil lawsuits, including from some of those injured in the Capitol riot, because a self-pardon would be seen as an admission that he did something wrong that he would need to be pardoned for," Karl said. "The president is angry, he has not taken that well, and I am told that he is now saying that he doesn't want to see pardons for anybody. So the attitude seems to be: 'If I can't get a pardon, then nobody else should get one, either.'"

Deserved a pardon (wrongly convicted, etc), I see this as a win-win.

The people who he has been showering with pardons lately are not deserving of pardons. And if he doesn’t pardon himself, all the better.

Again, I do feel badly for those who were hoping for a last minute pardon that have been wrong convicted, but I was under the impression Trump wasn’t doing much of that kind of pardoning.

They will have been warned by the relevant authorities like the FBI. This may be in addition to information from various other judges.

I don't indulge in blackmail by fear theories, i.e. that judges are automatically cowed by death threats and are incapable of judging fairly even when threatened. Nor do I indulge in the theories so popular on the hard-right forums and websites that any decision against their positions is instantly put down to "the have obviously threatened their families and the black robes have caved".

Regardless, it is important to have some sense of what is out there.

This one was posted on the open web the same day as tRump tweeted re Jan 6 "Be there, will be wild!":

Start gathering at the Supreme Court building and give those pussies in black robes a real scare. A couple of flat bed trucks with gallows built on them would be nice for effect.

The hard-right had been enraged for days previous against SCotUS:

To Hell with these black robed demons. It is time to water the tree of liberty.

That seems to be the last option available to reclaim what's left of
America. I'd say that this amounts to a call to arms to rise up and
take back what is being stolen from Americans.

Even without the threats, the legal precedence of a presidential self pardon are shaky at best.

A lawless President is not what the founding fathers had in mind.

I am so sick of old DOJ memos and ridiculous interpretations of 250 year old words being used as an excuse to make a mockery of the rest of our Constitution.
