The word bivouac is French and ultimately derives from an 18th-century Swiss German usage of Beiwacht (bei by, Wacht watch or patrol). It referred to an additional watch that would be maintained by a military or civilian force to increase vigilance at an encampment.

Mayday, 1971, 200,000 people showed up in DC for a week of protests. The White House, Capitol building and Pentagon, among others were all surrounded and there were troops in all government buildings. People occupied all the bridges leading into and out of DC. The Justice Dept headquarters was attacked and fire bombed. The slogan was "If the government won't stop the war, we will stop the government" And the government was stopped.

Dishonour before Constitution and country. I thank these men and women. Torn away from their careers and families by treasonous and seditious insurrectionists and their now impeached, again, leader
