As the commander of military forces in E Africa, I asked the American Forces Network (TV) to replace Fox news during meal hours. Why? Because they were inimical to America's outreach overseas. Put troops in jeopardy. Made my job harder. And they now have accomplices.
Without Fox, Trump would be a bungling celebrity who foolishly/laughably ran for president. Real-time reckoning of lies need real-time litigation. There is such a thing as gross distortions of fact and purveyors of such must pay a debilitating price.

(9,090 posts)are not going to be able to rationalize and excuse and sell lies and hypocrisy like limbaugh can when the GOP reps that voted no are up for reelection repeating the latest lies vs more rational primary opponents, much less dems.
they're also not going to be able to attract the ad dollars he did and 600 stations are going to take a big enough hit they may have to change programing

(15,597 posts)The (retired) Navy man was speaking specifically to Fox's propensity for dealing in lies, 'alternative facts' and fake news -- and the real time damage and toll this was extracting from the military and its mission. I don't think there's any disputing the fact that Fox went to war with the 'truth' -- and in service of the Republican party -- well in advance of the Trump administration. And clearly in doing so they established a baseline, and primed the pump, for an amoral populist who dealt in lies as the very breath of life -- and a public that embraced him.
And, yes -- an overwhelming amount of that was -- Fox television.
(and Bernardo is right -- the OP, and topic, would appear to be seriously dated)

Sounds right, turn off Fox News everywhere. Its a mouth piece for autocrats and monarchs. We need neither in the US.

It didn't say anything about AFN agreeing to do this or anything. Stop handing out congrats - this guy hasn't done anything yet...
In fact, this guy seems to be running for office in Iowa - he may be practicing his pandering skills with this Tweet!

(6,699 posts).... which explains why the majority of the military support this f***** up Administration. When you pump that poison between their ears as a captive audience, eventually their minds begin to rot... just as the cult has had their minds melt into stupidity and conspiracy garbage.
I watch a speck of Fox propaganda each day in 2 minute doses, and I can vouch for the fact that they are simply are the mouthpiece for the goPutin party of idiots. Their guests are the same right wing conspiracy nut bags such as gym jordan, DUI gaetz, huckleberry and his vile witch dogter, etc. Poison is the message of the day.... pounded repeatedly over and over again.
No wonder....
