Will they be cooperative, available for questions, and/or are they complicit, overlooking visitors?
Each acting SAA will certainly investigate, but they weren't in charge on day of the insurrection.
FBI and law enforcement have been pouring over footage from 1/6. Now they have cause to review the videos of the day before, and days and weeks and months before. This has been planned for a while.
I don't think we'll hear anything until after the inauguration, which is only 5 days away!
Maybe on President Biden's first full day in office we will get news of arrests or removals from Congress. I say first full day because I don't want to see inauguration day overshadowed by any arrests, unless they are for active insurrection which is expected to happen in many cities. I say news of arrests or removals because they can vote to remove or censure members who are under investigation, before they are arrested. They may get information now, and hold closed sessions to decide and implement their course of action, and we won't know until after that.
On the other hand, it would be amazing if tomorrow they announced discovery of evidence implicating the traitors who gave tours and more. But once people are implicated they will need to be investigated and interviewed, building a case. I want these traitors removed from our house ASAP, as I know MOC's do, and look forward to seeing this unfold, like a bizarre horror mystery.
This is a developing story.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill
@RepSherrill
Today I joined with more than 30 of my colleagues in requesting an investigation from the Acting House SAA, Acting Senate SAA, and USCP into the suspicious behavior and access given to visitors to the Capitol Complex on Jan. 5, 2021 - the day before the attacks on the Capitol.

Many of the Members who signed this letter, including those of us who have served in the military and are trained to recognize suspicious activity, as well as various members of our staff, witnessed an extremely high number of outside groups in the complex on Tuesday, January 5.
This is unusual for several reasons, including the fact that access to the Capitol Complex has been restricted since public tours ended in March due to the pandemic. We found these tours so concerning that senior staff questioned the SAA on January 5 about what was taking place.

(1,654 posts)Rep. Sherrill and the others want to make sure the information doesn't get disappeared. The more this knowledge is disseminated, the less chance somehow the records get "accidentally erased" by some unknown underling. Oops, sorry about that, can't find it. If they somehow didn't sign those visitors in, we have to know why, although I doubt they were allowed in without signing in. If so, that in itself was deliberate. All this is going into the history books so we better have records that reflect the truth.

(2,771 posts)Control of both Houses of Congress and the Presidency is so important. After 4 harrowing years of lies, gaslighting and cover-ups, Im more skeptical of Republicans and their motives than ever. Without Dem control of government Im sure there would be no transparency.

(6,225 posts)No wonder the insurgents seemed to know exactly where they were going. The had inside help in mapping out the areas to attack.
And I wonder how many more members of Congress besides Congresswoman Pressley had panic buttons removed from their offices.
And I wonder how many Republican Representatives knew what was going to happen on January 6th.
I think we are looking at a pretty large conspiracy to, not just block the installation of Biden and Harris as President and Vice-president, but to install Trump as President, while removing the first two people in line for succession, namely Pence and Pelosi.
I think this was meant to be the end of the Republic, and the establishment of a facist dictatorship under Trump.

(6,225 posts)When at least 34 Representatives sign a letter about suspicious tours, at least one Representative had her office panic buttons removed, a gallows is built to hang the Vice-President, and many of the insurrectionists look like they came ready to do what they did, then it's reasonable to assume you have a conspiracy.
Also reasonable to assume they had sympathetic Congressmen and Congresswomen who were assisting this attempt to halt of the vote.
And the only reason they would block the vote would be to keep Trump in power.
One doesn't need to know the who of a crime to identify that a crime was committed.
That will come later with Justice Department investigation.
This whole thing was too big for just Trump though...he isn't that good at planning.
And now we see with today's impeachment vote that he still has strong Republican support in the House.
I can't for the life of me figure out how 197 Republicans could vote against impeachment at this time.
It appears that Trump still has an iron grip on the Republican party. Is it out of fear, or because they believe in what he is trying to do, or both?

[thinking out loud]
How interesting that tRumpy used the very odd phrase, "Be there, will be wild!" on Dec. 20th to summon his MAGATs to the Capitol on Jan 6th.
What was happening on Dec. 20th in tRumplandia (i.e., the vast wasteland in his head)?
https://www.post-gazette.com/news/nation/2020/12/20/Donald-Trump-US-Supreme-Court-Pennsylvania-election-results-overturn-petition-Electoral-College-Rudy-Giuliani/stories/202012200136
WASHINGTON Undeterred by dismissals and admonitions from judges, President Donald Trumps campaign continued with its unprecedented efforts to overturn the results of the Nov 3. election Sunday, saying it had filed a new petition with the Supreme Court.
The petition seeks to reverse a trio of Pennsylvania Supreme Court cases having to do with mail-in ballots and asks the court to reject voters will and allow the Pennsylvania General Assembly to pick its own slate of electors.
Who is Susan Wild?
https://ballotpedia.org/Susan_Wild
Susan Wild (Democratic Party) is a member of the U.S. House, representing Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District. She assumed office on January 3, 2019. Her current term ends on January 3, 2023.
Wild (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the U.S. House to represent Pennsylvania's 7th Congressional District. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Wild won the regular election and special election on November 6, 2018. She filled the remainder of Rep. Charlie Dent's (R) term in the 15th Congressional District.
I'm sure the toddler tyrant was seeing red when he relied on swing state, Pennsylvania, to help him overturn the election results and he was being thwarted left and right. The voices in tRumpy's head probably went something like this:
"Someone has to pay for this! Who in Pennsylvania is the reason for this humiliation? Why, it's that woman over there representing Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district, a former Republican stronghold. Yeah, she's the one emasculating me and making me look like a loser! How dare she! I'll be sure to slip her name in my summons for the MAGATs to appear in the Capitol on Jan 6th. My loyal codebreakers will know what I mean." [wink, wink]
Every sane person was admonished today by the Repukes in the H of R not to take anything tRumpy says literally.
Well, I think we can all agree that it definitely got wild in the Capitol on Jan 6th so he was being literal when he used that phrase on Dec. 20th. Even if we give tRumpy the benefit of the doubt and that phrase is not evidence of him preplanning the insurrection, it still begs the question, what does "will be wild" mean? I propose it was code to his insider hitmen (I'm fairly sure he has them) to target Susan Wild.
