Word is out that he thinks the GOP needs to purge Trump from the party
but by denying his brethren a chance to vote against Trump, like 10 House Republicans did, the Senators are Tied to Trump FOREVER.
There's no separation and disavowal for ANY Republican senator now. They own him til eternity.
They will have Trump hanging around their neck for the rest of their lives.

(20,729 posts)And Lindsey is babysitting. I think Pence will take over for a day and pardon him and the brats, on condition he shuts up until then. This way Pence doesn't have to vote against idiot. And yertle won't own impeachment or conviction.
Yertle and Pence dodge all responsibility and might keep their careers. They're not going down w the bastard.

(2,787 posts)What is uncovered could hurt republicans in the 2022 midterms, Mitch could've done the right thing now without consideration to upcoming elections and got Trump convicted and mitigated some of the damage coming republicans. McConnell probably thinks it's better for republicans to hand this trial off to Schumer, but we will see.

(36,112 posts)Once Trump's gone, no one will give a shit about impeachment.
If Democrats pursue it post-presidency the GOPers will use it against them to sweep the midterms claiming vengeance, distraction blah, blah, blah
