Following her “American patriots” tweet, Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner “need not apply” to the upscale Indian Creek Country Club near their $30 million plot of land on the exclusive Florida island nicknamed “The Billionaire’s Bunker.”

The island community — one of the wealthiest in the US — has just 29 residences, and residents include Julio Iglesias, Carl Icahn, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen — but owning a home there doesn’t mean you get automatic membership in the country club.

A local source sniped, “You have to be nominated and make a formal application. But it only takes one member to object against any new member, and many members are objecting, particularly after the events at the Capitol on Jan. 6.

The water is coming, that's for sure. People of means still want to live in Hi Rises on the water. The trick is to not be the last person holding property on Miami Beach when the tide does not go out... Like musical chairs and you don't have a chair when the music stops.
I don' think it will happen in my time but it's coming... King tides and storm come and the streets flood for a few hours, days and weeks. It recedes and at some point it wont. I headed for the high ground last year.

I had the rather dubious pleasure of being from a totally middle-class family, but going to school with sons and daughters of people that were way too rich. There were somewhat more of "us" than "them," and some of them were actually nice people, but still...

When one of those sons went to an upscale dealership to buy himself an Aston Martin, he was asked how he planned to pay for it. "I thought I'd write a cheque." was the answer.

When the dealer came back from calling the bank to see about the validity of the cheque, his demeanour had changed more than a little. Apparently, the bank manager told him "If he gives you a good offer on the dealership, you should take it."
