Trump has instructed aides not to pay Giuliani's legal feesLink to tweet Tweet text:
David Nakamura @DavidNakamura Trump has instructed aides not to pay Giuliani’s legal fees and the president did not appreciate a demand from Giuliani for $20,000 a day in fees, per @PhilipRucker @jdawsey1 @AshleyRParker https://washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-isolated-impeachment/2021/01/13/0595675a-55b6-11eb-a931-5b162d0d033d_story.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/trump-isolated-impeachment/2021/01/13/0595675a-55b6-11eb-a931-5b162d0d033d_story.html When Donald Trump on Wednesday became the first president ever impeached twice in a bipartisan rebuke, he did so as a leader increasingly isolated, sullen and vengeful. With less than seven days remaining in his presidency, Trump’s inner circle is shrinking, offices in his White House are emptying, and the president is lashing out at some of those who remain. He is angry that his allies have not mounted a more forceful defense of his incitement of the mob that stormed the Capitol last week, advisers and associates said. Though Trump has been exceptionally furious with Vice President Pence, his relationship with lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani, one of his most steadfast defenders, is also fracturing, according to people with knowledge of the dynamics between the men. Trump has instructed aides not to pay Giuliani’s legal fees, two officials said, and has demanded that he personally approve any reimbursements for the expenses Giuliani incurred while traveling on the president’s behalf to challenge election results in key states. They said Trump has privately expressed concern with some of Giuliani’s moves and did not appreciate a demand from Giuliani for $20,000 a day in fees for his work attempting to overturn the election. As he watched impeachment quickly gain steam, Trump was upset generally that virtually nobody is defending him — including press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, economic adviser Larry Kudlow, national security adviser Robert C. O’Brien and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, according to a senior administration official.

there goes the attorney-client privilege and Rudy can sing like a bird ...

9. So... Any readers of tea leaves... Does this mean it is less likely or more likely that Rudy gets
his blanket pre-emptive pardon?
I could see Trump being mad at Rudy, so he won't pay him AND he won't give the pardon. But I could also see that Trump sees the pardon he will intends to give as adequate payment, and so refuses to overpay by also paying cash. |

43. I always found Guiliani disgusting
He got far too much credit after 9/11 for basically standing around looking belligerent and he was cruel to the homeless.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudy_Giuliani_during_the_September_11_attacks https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mayoralty_of_Rudy_Giuliani During his 1993 campaign, Giuliani proposed to drastically curtail city services for the homeless, setting a limit of 90 days for stays in shelters. Opponent Dinkins accused Giuliani of punishing the children of the homeless with the policy.[79] This contrasted with Giuliani's campaign promise during the 1989 campaign to build hundreds of new homeless shelters around the city.[80] Advocates for the homeless sued the mayor over an alleged failure to provide proper medical treatment to homeless children.[81]
During the Giuliani administration, police conducted sweeps of parks and other public places to arrest homeless people and move them to shelters. Critics charged that the purpose was not to help the homeless but to remove them from sight. The pastor of Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, Reverend Thomas Tewell, said: "I think the police and the administration in New York were a bit embarrassed to have homeless people on the steps of a church in such an affluent area. The city said to us that it's inhumane to have people staying on the streets. And my response was that it's also inhumane to just move them along to another place or to put them in a shelter where they are going to get beat up, or abused, or harassed." The church sued the city of New York, Giuliani, and Bernard Kerik, asserting a First Amendment right to minister to the homeless on its steps.[82][83][84] He has always been a shit head. |
