They've been brainwashed into following a deranged leader and will be terrified if there isn't someone telling them what to think.
I'm a little concerned that some savvy charismatic extremist will recognize the opportunity and start corralling the flock for his own run at the presidency.
He/she/it would likely be much more formidable than the buffoon.

(25,048 posts)The GOP is going to break apart into various factions. We can see it beginning in yesterday's impeachment vote. The congresspeople who voted for impeachment are the Constitutionalists and these voted against are the seditionists. That second group is going to splinter, as you suggested.
My hope is that the GOP will fatally damage themselves.

I didnt know much about him until the insurrection. Im thankful he was outed as the creep he is. I think he couldve been their next Messiah. Shudder.

(20,589 posts)someone else steal his cult. He worked very hard to cultivate that rabid, bat-shit crazy human dross and he's not letting go of them. He'll find SOMEONE who still has a Twitter account that hasn't been suspended, and he'll work his magic thumbs into a frenzy communicating with them.
Never stand between a bonafide lunatic and his brain-dead cult.

His supporters can't blame themselves, of course.
Edit: They'll probably watch the Democrats closely as their guide. "Look at the libs crying about him openly wanting nuclear war! Love those liberal tears!"

Looks like both of them are no smarter than trump since they both kept pushing that obvious falsehood. Now they're both hanging onto their seats by their fingernails with donors wanting their money back and local papers calling for their resignations.
Better luck next time, fellas, if there is a next time.

(20,049 posts)Hawley and Cruz both are already vying for the post, along with many House level reps.
The insurrection they helped lead didn't help any of them cement their roll. The same goes for several ambitious RW governors.
There will be another leader of the Q flock, be sure of that fact. They've not changed, nor learned any sustainable lessons other than to be more cautious what they post. They're still out there, they're still brainwashed and they still believe they're right and everyone else is wrong.
Labeling their sub groups as terrorist is a decent start. If we can squash some of the larger ones they'll lose some of their best organizers. In the end we (as a society) need to regulate what's acceptable dialogue without regard to profit on private platforms. People are herd animals and radicalization happens all too easily. Any and all calls to violence should never be ignored.
