Well now I'M in the ICU. Not COVID.

I’ve felt like hell in all sorts of ways for a week. Short of breath, exhausted, weird plethora of symptoms. To make it short I had to do the ambulance dash to the ER this morning. I’ve got a pulmonary embolism! Heart and all else are fine so they’re going to give me a honking blood thinner and keep me on a couple of days and then prophylaxis.

I swore I’d outlive that rat bastard and it’s still the plan.

But did I hear his doctor died???

Love you all.

the house is empty without her. No one to eat my left overs, no one to greet me with a wagging tail in the morning. I did get her ashes back. They included a paw casting and some paw prints, including a refrigerator magnet. I touch it every time I got to the fridge. Pets are the best, as I'm sure you know.

But this thread is about Nolabear, and I wish him a speedy recovery.

My son-in-law had a pulmonary embolism in his lungs two days before this past Christmas. We thought he had COVID and when we drove from Oregon to Washington to drop off our presents to our kids and their families, we gave my daughter and son-in-law a thermometer and an oximeter. The next day his heart was racing, and he used the oximeter, His heart was racing at 200 beats/minute. He was rushed to the ER, and they did a CT scan and found the embolism. He is very lucky and so are you. He is now on blood thinners, and he is going to make major changes in his diet as well as exercise. Believe it or not, he is already back to work. He gave us quite a scare and our daughter is traumatized, but he is doing great now; and it has been less than a month.

All cardiac issues-related. They are not to be trivialized. The slightest cut can lead to a bloodbath that looks like you were Zorro‘s practice victim.

On the other hand, they can and probably will save your life. Each time, I was on them for about a year. Follow the doctors‘ instructions and you should be OK.

Besides, as I recall, there was a book you wanted to read
