Rude Pundit: We Could Have Dealt With This Shit Years Ago If Republicans Hadn't Been Dicks...

We Could Have Dealt With This Shit Years Ago If Republicans Hadn't Been Dicks About Their Extremists

I keep thinking about Janet Napolitano, the former governor of Arizona who became Barack Obama's first Secretary of Homeland Security. In April 2009, Republicans and conservative groups were demanding that she resign because her department had so deeply insulted right-wing Americans. See, DHS's Extremism and Radicalization Branch (Homeland Environment Threat Analysis Division) in coordination with the FBI, released a report titled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," and it was pretty much straight up and down accurate in describing how nutzoid right-wingers, almost all of them white people, were becoming terrorists, driven to utter despair by the dual insults of the Bush-induced, severe economic downturn and the election of the first black president. To the writers of the report, those factors "present unique drivers for rightwing radicalization and recruitment."

What pissed off Republicans? Well, truth be told, it's because they recognized even then that their base was made up largely of assholes who were part of this toxic soup of racism and delusion. But they said that it was because, as then-House Minority Leader John "Human Ashtray" Boehner put it, "When you look at this report on right-wing extremism, it includes ... about two- thirds of Americans, who, you know, who might go to church, who may have served in the military, who may be involved in community activities." The report actually warned that religion was one of the driving factors behind right-wing extremist violence, as seen by, oh, hell, the murders and bombings connected to clinics where abortions were performed.

snip//

But let's be clear that Republicans threw a shit fit at the idea that their base was a bunch of violent crackpots, racists, and assholes. Wait, lemme clarify that. They were upset that they would have to admit that their base was a bunch of violent crackpots, racists, and assholes. So they fucked over the country to score cheap political points and show how they could stand up to the black president. That's how we got dozens of right-wing extremist attacks in the last 12 years. That's how we got Charlottesville. That's how we got Trump being able to be openly, wildly racist with no consequences for that until this past week. That's how we got members of Congress afraid of other members of Congress harming them. If Republicans had seen that report and said, "Yeah, wow, fuck, that's bad. We should act on it," how different might things be now. Instead, they took it and shit on it and handed it back and said, "Go fuck yourself with it." And then they shot down just about every opportunity to really do something about the white terrorists who are their base because to admit they were terrorists was to admit that their whiteness wouldn't protect them.

Maybe now. Maybe at last. Maybe this dam finally broke.

So there should be no fucking mercy anymore for the Republicans who abetted this madness. It's all out there now, motherfuckers. You decided to sow. Now reap that shit and accept that you deserve to be tossed into the political trashcan.

Trump-Supporting Christian Leaders and Their Sunday Messages
Support for President Donald Trump has been consistently strong among evangelicals, with some calling him the best friend Christians have had in the White House.

Support for President Donald Trump has been consistently strong among evangelicals, with some professing that he has been the best friend Christians have had in the White House.

On the first Sunday since a mob of his supporters seeking to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's election stormed the U.S. Capitol and five people including a police officer died, the messages from the pulpits of Christian leaders who've backed Trump were as disparate as the opinions of the nation's citizenry.

They ranged from recitations of debunked conspiracy theories of who was responsible, to calls for healing and following Jesus Christ rather than any individual person, to sermons that made no mention of Wednesday's chaos and what it means for the future.

these AH's will not get the message.

Presidents Washington and Adams dealt with multiple rebellions: Whiskey, Shay's, and Fries.

Fries and Whiskey were about taxes, and Shay's was about taxes on trades and farm bank repos.

A strong federal response did stop the mayhem.

Women were also excluded from political decision making, regardless of race.

With a history of racism, sexism, and value of self interest over community interest when it comes to money, why are we continually surprised to see so many of our fellow citizens turn out to be racist, sexist, "it's my money" people?

Electing a Black Man, followed by a Woman candidate for President, just about gave half the country heart failure. How dare white male privilege be assaulted by such inferior people?

We really need to face reality. Half the people in this country are either racist, sexist, or self-serving, money grubbing assholes. Put them all together and what you get is support for a narcissistic con man and wannabe dictator who will prioritize money and power for the white man (and subservient white woman) and everyone else can fend for themselves or go to hell.

I remember prior to the OKC bombing how radicalized the wingnuttiest of the wingnuts were becoming. After the bombing people finally realized these dipshits were actually dangerous and they were marginalized by everyone north of a room temperature IQ.

Then we as a society forget those lessons and they have to be repeated before reason starts to take hold again. The thing that needs to be done is the dipshits need to be kicked when they are down until they just don't want to get up anymore. Then after a while when they think everyone has forgotten they need to be kicked again and again every time thereafter they try to get up. Furthermore this can't be just the left doing the kicking. More in the GOP need to realize this is a cancer that is a far bigger threat to their own party than anyone else.

This is one of the most important posts I have ever seen on here. I have seen it all happen and lived through it, it happened just exactly like this over the years. Babylon Sister, thank you for refreshing my memory. Not one of the reps will ever speak out about how their party has changed and instead just quietly go along with all the hypocrisy, lies and extremist behavior and violence. Mitch McConnell is the main culprit behind this behavior. He gives all reps permission to be regular AH's......and he shows them how to do it. Until we get him out of office, rep party is not going to change. McConnell had a wonderful chance to show the good in the rep party when President Obama got elected but he made a choice to be a first class AH instead. Now, DJT has destroyed everything good about the rep party. Now, the only way they can win the presidency is by appealing to the derelicts and ah's in our country. They made a choice.

He was a stooge. I think that is the issue. The ones that put him there are still in their seats. Trump was a pawn that realized he had power and took advantage. It really goes to show that everything comes down to what the GOP wanted. They supported this until it became criminal.

This was underway long before Trump became a political figure.
