Republicans will emerge from the Trump era gutted financially, institutionally and structurally.
The big picture: The losses are stark and substantial.
They lost their congressional power.
Their two leaders, Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy, are hamstrung by corporate blacklisting of their election-denying members.
The GOP brand is radioactive for a huge chunk of America.

(38,057 posts)They still benefit from an overlapping array of media outlets pushing propaganda against Democrats and constantly attacking Democratic people and policies. Spreading mis- and disinformation is built into these outlets' business model, and they have very little incentive to change. For them, extremism in pursuit of eyeballs and clicks is no vice.
Also, about that corporate blacklist: they say that now, when MAGA shit is still being scrubbed off the Capitol's floors. Will they keep to it? Or will they quietly pretend they never said that as the next two years go by?
