Anyone who is still a Trump voter after last week doesn't need to be anywhere near us. Period.
Thank you for your attention. You may now go back to what you were doing.

How many times did we have to deal were even the mildest criticisms of these people met with such retorts as "Oh, that's a GREAT way to get them to vote with us."

(71,555 posts)they did in 16, Biden would have lost Georgia. He took a small number of votes but without them he would have lost...about 26 thousand. We have to win votes in red districts even if it is just reducing the margin they win buy in order to win more statewide and national elections.

Demsrule86
(71,555 posts)for Biden. He lost the county by a pretty large margin. This is a majority white county sis tells me. Without those votes Biden would have lost Georgia. We need all voters in Georgia and everywhere...all that we can get. The same is true in the Senate race, we lowered Trump's numbers considerably in red counties which combined with the AA vote helped pick off two GOP Senators. We need the burbs and the AA vote. In fact, suburbs are increasingly diverse.
Turin_C3PO
(16,385 posts)I think our long term goal should be increasing turnout even more among African-Americans and flipping more moderate suburban voters to our side. I imagine some of them werent too keen on the attempted Capitol coup.

(23,195 posts)But the latter ain't gonna be easy, and I think groups like The Lincoln Project are better able to figure out potential points of entry into the delusional field encompassing them than are long time Dems. I only say that that effort is worth pursuing out of concern for all of our safety, not out of anyparticular concern brainwashed Trumpers.
Point of order though. There literally have not been any Trump voters since November. Some of those who may have voted for Trump before his effort to first overturn the election and then overthrow our government may be reachable if they are not still swearing allegiance to Trump.

(17,910 posts)It is not about reaching out but about deradicalizing. It is not about elections. Having a large portion of the people in one's country being bat shit crazy is bad whoever is in power. Their own less crazy conservatives should try to reach them.

They do not want or deserve our understanding; they want our destruction or, at the very least, our silence and invisibility.
They are a proudly defiant enemy attacking us in real time, and we are under no obligation to empathize with our attackers.

(15,526 posts)I'm glad you are pointing this out, because there are many trolls out there criticizing Biden, upholding Trump, and even a few still contesting the election. In all cases, we need to point out that if they are still supporting Trump then essentially they want to tear down our republic and replace it with a dictatorship. Because Trump attempted to pull off a coup using the same strategies Putin used in Ukraine.
Trump is a traitor and his supporters are insurrectionists.

(43,364 posts)The 72 million we're around are only one out of five people we might be around.
We should no longer try to give people help they don't understand, want, or ask for.
We've spent decades understanding them. We get it.
No more intellectual or political caretaking. Be polite, that's it.
We don't help ourselves with any more "understanding" of people who've used "stories" to plaster defamations on us, still calling us 'Demoncrats', still validating their collective white supremacy privately and calling it something else publicly, still pejoratively calling our building back better goal as radical liberalism or socialism, both of which I embrace and refuse to explain anymore. Top to bottom, we've wasted enough of our past cleaning up after the damage and danger they've threatened and followed through on.
This is no longer about being the better person, decent or even being kind.
We've all been there done that. We still do that.
We've got nothing to prove to the 72 million or their leaders.
We who saved democracy are leaving them to fix themselves.
It's not "rejection."
It's a redirection of our energies and vision.
We don't have to be dragged down by them. Ain't nobody got time for that.
They will have to change by watching and learning from us.
That alone will be their help.
If they want it.
78% of us in America are ready to get moving beyond race sickness, and we're the people with the can-do leadership to get us all there.
Thanks for confirming.
