Frank Figliuzzi on MSNBC just now: worried about a permanent, violent civil war

that these semi-organized cells of trumpers will try to commit ongoing acts of terrorism against soft targets for years

including bombings, etc.

Then we have a civil war that will be very very difficult to stop.

there must be a reckoning in the media. they must be more accountable for soft-peddling this and enabling it.

I think it has to do with not letting a bunch of billionaire white guys run everything.

An awful lot of people have bought guns this year, many of them probably shouldn't have.

Most people do not need guns. Some do....I live in a very secluded place in a high crime rate county with minimal law enforcement, so I do need a gun in the house. I was trained in the military, and I have had further training over the years. In the past 20 years, two people have been murdered within 1000' of my property, one of the killers was a neighbor. (both were drug deals gone belly-up) When I lived in suburban neighborhoods in more upscale places, where cops were minutes away, I never felt the need to be armed.

Why don't I move instead? I can live most anywhere I would like. I live on property that has been in the family for over 100 years and I am not going anywhere until I leave toes up. My son is now buying some of the property from me, so the family plans to stay a while.

that kind of crazy doesn't just concede and go away. It goes underground, seethes, rages, and then explodes.

This is going to be with us a long time. We never properly dealt with the first Civil War, so until we do, it's never really going to fully end.

At least not until enough old white people die off to be honest.

between 70+ million, and millions.

So yeah, it will age out. No one said every last crazy is going away, but if you whittle it down to a few million out of 350+ or more that we will hit in 20 years or so? Then you are just fine.

Fri Jan 15, 2021, 06:35 PM
Jan 2021

it was greater in 2016, and white men over 65 voted in a greater margin to Trump.

Plus, white people are going to be a smaller and smaller share of the electorate each and every election going forward.

So yeah, it will age out. It won't go away 100 percent. There are probably still some Whigs out there floating around. But 20-40 years from now, with each successive younger generation being a little more liberal, with racial, sexual and gender equality being a little more progressed, then yeah, this stuff will die out.

But it takes time, and it takes education, and it takes consistent voting.

The only numbers you've shown is a tiny difference among young white men of 6 pts when he won white men in total by 23 points.

Which means he won older white men by a lot more than younger white men. 4 times as much, in fact.

I don’t see another realistic option - if - its followers go down a terrorist route while being backed (even tacitly) by the political arm. At that point, the state department should designate the party accordingly and treat it like any other terror group.

War is a real thing, and I'm surprised he threw the term around carelessly. It's well within our abilities to smash any large insurgent groups, possibly leaving individuals and small groups acting alone.
