If you're Kamala, do you meet with Mike to see if there's anything of value to be gleaned, or do you tell him to go pound sand?
WASHINGTON/WILMINGTON, Del. (Reuters) - Vice President Mike Pence reached out to Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on Thursday, sources familiar with the situation said, marking the first contact at that level between the outgoing and incoming administrations.
Pence has increasingly taken on the public roles involved in government transition. President Donald Trump, despite pledging to work toward a smooth transfer of power, has not contacted President-elect Joe Biden or explicitly acknowledged that Biden won the November election. Trump spent the weeks since the Nov. 3 election questioning its integrity and claiming falsely that he won.
Pence certified Biden and Harriss electoral win in Congress last week after Trump supporters stormed the Capitol in attempt to stop the process. Pence faced strong pressure from the president to intervene in an attempt to throw the election Trumps way.
The vice president has trips scheduled this weekend to say goodbye to troops.

(94,261 posts)...seems perfunctory, but it could make a difference.
I'd guess former VP Biden knows more.

(442 posts)The quicker we can get back to business and some sort of 'normalcy' the better. Pence likely will have some pointers. Kamala is smart enough to see through any bullshit. Plus, it will give Trump one more kick in the ass as he heads out the door.

(18,359 posts)Harris should definitely accept. Pence has a lot of faults, but he is of older corrupt Republican stock. He understands that their are changes in administration, and we are getting very close to burning the whole thing down.

(26,667 posts)I know that's a different matter and I expect Biden would go if he's still around when it happens, but I wouldn't be there. I couldn't in good conscious show up and act like I'm paying respects when I have absolutely none for the idiot.

(296,097 posts)for refusing to overturn the election for him. Nothing like living through Secret Service rushing you to safety with the mob behind you. This will be his road to Damascus.
I expect him to leave politics and make a bag of money exposing Trump.
I won't read it - you reap what you sow.
He was also seen addressing the National Guard in DC this morning.

(17,552 posts)I would NOT give anybody the opportunity to say anything negative by not attending. She SHOULD meet with him, listen to "whatever" (I truly cannot believe he has anything worth hearing), smile and say thanks - and go ahead just like you were planning on doing anyhow.

(34,914 posts)Yes, she should meet with him, if only for the sake of appearances. Kamala is more than capable of discerning what to take or leave out of the meeting, and not being polite about it would only reflect badly on her.
