I wasn’t around for WWII, but I actually remember school integration and how it was Dwight Eisenhower who made that happen.

I was a little kid myself, and the visuals were very striking on the nightly news and in LIFE magazine photos.

as we've had in recent decades. In his defense, few men of prominence stood up to Sen. Joe McCarthy and the House UnAmerican Committee. Eisenhower carried out the desegregation of the military and associated organizations ordered initially by Truman. He deserves credit for that among many other things.
