(6,681 posts)So the OP ether forgot about him or felt that Ford didn't belong in that group. If it's the latter, I happen to agree. I'd trade every single present-day Republican for a Gerald Ford clone in a heartbeat. YMMV.

I was a little kid myself, and the visuals were very striking on the nightly news and in LIFE magazine photos.

(6,069 posts)as we've had in recent decades. In his defense, few men of prominence stood up to Sen. Joe McCarthy and the House UnAmerican Committee. Eisenhower carried out the desegregation of the military and associated organizations ordered initially by Truman. He deserves credit for that among many other things.
