After White House Meeting with Trump, Mike Lindell Calls for Military Coup on Facebook

Following his meeting with President Trump on Friday, MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell said in a Facebook interview with Right Side Broadcasting News today that he’s praying that the military presence in Washington is part of Trump’s plan to retain power.

In Lindell’s interview—which has garnered hundreds of thousands of views on Facebook in just a few hours—he recounts the details of his meeting with the president and rattles off a series of unintelligible conspiracies in a Minnesota lilt.

He babbled like an idiot for half an hour, but he did not call for martial law in that interview.

Lindell: I don’t understand it. You know there’s like three people and every other person’s a military guy. . . . We’ve all had our prayers going, “Gee maybe somethings gonna be done that this president is willing to say hey we’ve been attacked by another country cause we have. Our countries been under attack for a long time.”

RSBN Interviewer: I think people are hoping that this military presence is a response to what you just said.

Lindell: That’s where my hope lies. . . .

This FB interview isn't that babbling idiot calling for a coup. It's a couple of babbling idiots talking about their fantasies, their speculation as to why there is military in DC right now and spinning a conspiracy theory that it's not because of the inauguration, but rather to respond to the conspiracy theory that "America is under attack" because the "election was stolen."

It's plain and simple trolling to say he's calling for a coup.

The headline is copied directly from the Bulwark article. There's another current post on GD, posted after this OP, with the identical headline in its title.

The context of the comments I quoted is that they follow Lindell's discussion of the possibility of Trump invoking the Insurrection Act or imposing martial law - two very live fantasies among Qbots and other Trumpites - ordering the reinstatement of Twitter and Facebook accounts etc. etc.:

Lindell: Four pages that I brought to the president which was that evidence for the big machine switch. . . . Here’s all his options he could do. Basically it laid out all the options. One of the things the president really liked on there was Google, Facebook, Twitter he has the authority to order them to put everybody’s back intact their Facebook and their Twitters back. . . . He turned to that Robert O’Brien and said “Yeah we could do this.”

If those actions and Lindell's words don't amount to "calling for a coup" in your book, that's up to you, but DON'T accuse me of trolling.

....which is nothing less than sensationalistic.

Listening to the guy, it's clear, even from his telling of the story, that he has very little sway with the President; and, as was pointed out in another post, absolutely no sway with Trump's lawyers. And he describes this fact in his telling.

So, if you and the article want to go with saying this is "calling for a coup," then go for it....

32. He was granted an audience with Trump.

That in itself, in the current circumstances and given the materials he clumsily revealed he was carrying, is pretty sensational.

But by his own testimony he's clinging to the RW fantasy, even at this late stage, that Trump may succeed in imposing martial law, which would be a de facto coup in his and their eyes. It very likely wouldn't succeed for a vast variety of reasons.

But just because it's a crazy idea from a crazy person doesn't mean we don't get to know about it and discuss it.

Hell, a fair proportion of the OPs here at any given time are recounting what the crazies are thinking or doing - some of the most-recced with sensational ALL-CAPS titles and BREAKING!!! and whatever - so I've no idea why you decided to launch in at me about this one with an unfounded and inflammatory accusation.
