I watched that black cop being pursued by the white mob

and my heart sank with every step backward he took. Learning that he was intentionally, heroically leading that bunch of thugs away from Mike Pence and his family, that he was endangering himself to go beyond his duty, not only relieved my fears but made me so proud of him. If anyone deserves a medal and public accolades, it's this brave man.

video it struck me as odd. Not that he was running from a mob, but that little shove which was so timid. I didn’t understand why he would taunt. Either mean business and really push or keep hands off. And the way he looked back as he was moving up the stairs seemed a bit off.

Once the explanation came out it all made sense. One brilliant dude!

him even more heroically.

Fwiw, I never thought he was doing anything but what he should in the face of overwhelming force. He was obviously thinking and choosing his move at each stage, and he was armed but never used his gun, which could have touched off mob violence. That was a little clue from the beginning, but of course we had no idea then just how well he was thinking. Guessing these videos will be used to train and inspire officers, and I'm glad we have them now to be glad of also.

His response was cool and textbook perfect. Even though he was armed he made the calculation that he couldn't shoot all the mob, and firing on them would just escalate the level of violence and motivate them further. So instead he led them on a wild goose chase away from their primary targets.

In Philadelphia a gang of police broke every window in a car drug the young mother out and beat her. They kidnapped her toddler and when she got him back he had a welt on his head. Why did they do? Who knows there were no charges filed.

The first time I saw that video clip I was like YIKES!!! Here's this lone cop being "chased" by a foaming-at-the-mouth bunch of savages.

Then I later I realized what he was doing when he reached where he was leading them, and a pile of additional cops suddenly appeared.
