Rep. @laurenboebert denies giving any tours of the U.S. Capitol between January 3rd and 6th; however, her own mother and another Congressman have confirmed Boebert provided at least one tour during that period.

NEW: In a text to me just now, @laurenboebert denied this allegation made on CNN by @RepCohen that she led a tour before the Capitol attack.
I did not give any tours between Jan 3rd and 6th, Boebert says.

(6,011 posts)the investigations as participants of the attack, she's fucked.
I have no doubt that the Capitol Bldg. has video surveillance.
If Boebert did anything shady, the authorities either already know, or they'll know very soon.
Boebert surely sees herself as "smarter" than everyone else. She's not one of the "sheep", you know.
She's nowhere as smart as she thinks she is, especially up against Federal law enforcement.

(8,665 posts)due to COVID-19 exposure rules as applied throughout the Capitol building. This was not an optional exception allowed to members when Boebert and others did so on Jan. 5th.
According to several of the 30 members who have complained it was a seriously egregious violation of Capitol health and safety rules that even NEW members had been briefed on in no uncertain terms. This is was not an "Oops, I'm sorry" moment. It is clear there was a pattern to the tours, who was leading them, and who was included. According to witnesses this is the period during which the office panic buttons were torn out.
The whole question of who led and who participated in those inappropriate and forbidden tours is just as serious as who sabotaged Capitol Building Security. This was not an error in judgement. It was a recon mission in aid of those who attacked on the 6th.

(302 posts)The problem with that is a pardon is a in acknowledgment of an underlying crime and she would be booted from Congress immediately. Sounds good to me

(77,277 posts)I was in a cab if I wasn't in the building. I think only one or the 5 or so times did I go anywhere else. Went to the Archive once. Paid less attention to cameras there.
In the Capitol, I don't think I could move 50 feet without seeing another 1 or 2 cameras.
I didn't even stay in DC.
I stayed in Arlington when I went there.
I went to Arlington at least once a year, usually twice for probably 20 years.
Industry association HQ is there.

(77,277 posts)I've been to the Capitol a few times since 9/11. Being only in open, public spaces I had to see 50 cameras.
And, the last time I was there was around 2014. Perhaps a year back from that.
I can only imagine there'd be more now, given how the cost has fallen.
I would also guess there are probably cameras we can't identify as cameras!
But, this dimwit thought she could sneak around in there unmonitored.
wnylib
(26,464 posts)she no doubt thought that being identified was not a problem if the coup had succeded in keeping Trump in power. I'm sure that's why they were all so bold and proud of what they were doing. They expected to be honored as heroes.
Stupid for thinking they would succeed. Stupid for thinking they would not be tracked down and pay the consequences.
