9. 2 National Guard Members Removed From Inauguration Duty After Militia Links Found

Two U.S. Army National Guard members are being removed from the security mission to secure Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration.

The two National Guard members have been found to have ties to fringe right group militias, a U.S. Army official and a senior U.S. intelligence official said...

No plot against Biden was found.

The Army official and the intelligence official spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity due to Defense Department media regulations. They did not say which fringe group the Guard members belonged to or what unit they served in.

14. Live inaugural updates: 12 Army National Guard troops dropped from Capitol security mission, two for

Twelve National Guard troops have been removed from security duties at the Capitol after questionable behavior was detected in their past during security screening, Army Gen. Daniel Hokanson, chief of the National Guard Bureau, said Tuesday.

Two from that group had made inappropriate comments or texts about President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration, Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman said. But not all 12 have ties to extremist groups, he said.

“We’re not taking any chances,” said Hoffman, who characterized the comments made by the two as inappropriate texts.

Of the 12, 10 were identified by the FBI in security screening, Hokanson said. Another was flagged by commanders and the final one was identified by an anonymous tipster.

15. Infamous hate-spewing Beverly Hills 'Karen' arrested after videos show her at pro-Trump Capitol riot

A salon owner who went viral for spewing homophobic slurs and other hateful rhetoric during an anti-lockdown protest back in December has been arrested for participating in the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol, CBS Los Angeles reports.

Gina Bisignano, 52, was arrested by the FBI at her home in Beverly Hills, California, this Tuesday. Last week, Bisignano told the Beverly Hills Courier that she traveled to Washington, D.C., where she joined the mob that stormed the Capitol building.

Video shows Bisignano holding a megaphone at the Capitol and yelling, "Everybody, we need gas masks, we need weapons. We need strong, angry patriots to help our boys, they don't want to leave. We need protection."

Videos and images have surfaced showing a local Beverly Hills business owner at the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. A video posted on social media shows Gina Bisignano, owner of Gina’s Eyelashes and Skincare and a regular at the Beverly Hills Freedom Rally, exiting the Capitol building through a broken window and apparently encouraging people to enter the building. The events of the day left five people dead, including a member of law enforcement, and left a host of questions in its wake, including: How did a Beverly Hills esthetician with celebrity clients end up at a violent incurson of the nation’s Capitol?

16. The Money Trail For Insurrection Rally Leads Directly To The Trump Campaign

"According to an Associated Press review of records, undercutting claims the event was the brainchild of the president's grass roots supporters, the AP reports a pro Trump nonprofit group called Women For America First posted the Save America Rally on Jan. 6 near the White House. But an attachment to the National Parks Service public gathering permit granted to the group lists more than half a dozen people in staff positions for the event who just weeks earlier had been paid thousands of dollars by Trump's 2020 re-election campaign. Other staff scheduled to be on site during the demonstration have close ties to the White House.

"In a statement, the president's re-election campaign said it did not organize, operate or finance the event and no members were involved in the operation of the rally. It said that if any former employees or independent contractors for the campaign took part, they did not do to at the direction of the Trump campaign. The AP's review found at least three of the Trump campaign aides named on the permit rushed to obscure their connections to the demonstration.

William McCall Calhoun Jr., an attorney from Americus, Georgia, has been charged over his alleged participation in the siege of the U.S. Capitol Complex on Jan. 6.

A redacted charging document in the federal case was recently made public. Calhoun reportedly made his first court appearance last Friday, according to Atlanta-based NBC affiliate WXIA-TV.

The FBI claims Calhoun was one of the first pro-Trump rioters to lay waste House Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s (D-Calif.) office before bragging about his alleged exploits on social media.

“[G]et this – the first of us who got upstairs kicked in Nancy Pelosi’s office door and pushed down the hall towards her inner sanctum, the mob howling with rage,” a Facebook post attributed to Calhoun reads. “Crazy Nancy probably would have been torn into little pieces, but she was nowhere to be seen – then a swat team showed, and we retreated back to the rotunda and continued our hostile take over [sic] of the Capitol Building.”
