The Scottish brewers BrewDog are known for their tongue in cheek antics, and have previously trolled Donald Trump by asking fans to name a beer inspired by him," said the report. "But now, co-founder of BrewDog James Watt is asking the people of Scotland to sign their petition to rename Prestwick Airport where Trump often flies to when visiting Turnberry 'Joe Biden International'."

(3,035 posts)I never heard of these folks before, but I REALLY like them already! And there must be one near his Bedminster NJ club....could that be Obama International?!!?!? And Trump thought losing Confederates from military base names was an issue.

(50 posts)Not that it's a serious proposal anyway, but having Prestwick airport named after him would be bit of a dubious honour for Joe Biden. The airport is a bit of a white elephant these days. Also, Trump's long-term ownership of Turnberry has got to be in question. In addition to his financial and legal woes the R&A recently announced that The Open Championship would not return to Turnberry while the course was in any way associated with the Trump family, and it was widely reckoned that the bragging rights about hosting an Open were the main reason he bought it.
For anyone interested in such things Prestwick has an interesting history as one of the westernmost major airports in the UK and benefitting from fairly good weather. For those reasons it was the UK end of the Atlantic Ferry operation that shuttled American warplanes to Britain during WW2, and after the war when airliners had much shorter ranges most trans-Atlantic flights from all over Europe would stop off at Prestwick (or Shannon in Ireland) to top up their tanks. It continues to be used by USAF transport aircraft and some freight carriers, but these days the only scheduled passenger flights are by Europe's most awful airline Ryanair, and even they mainly use Edinburgh and Glasgow instead. It was purchased by the Scottish Government a few years ago to try to revive its fortunes, but there has been no sign of that and closure remains a possibility.
