...tried this. He fizzled out fairly quickly, it was essentially a one issue party, that being NAFTA. Buchannan hijacked it later and it was pretty much the kiss of death.

In Trump's case, well, he's no Ross Perot. Trump will squeeze every last penny out of a grift, he'll use the "party" as a way to blackmail GOP politicians in some shape or form.
