Secretary Clinton notably wore purple during her concession speech in 2016, and many people then wore purple in the following days in solidarity with her.

It's also the color of bipartisanship - red and blue. So, it could be serving a dual purpose. Keeping in tune with President Biden's call for unity and celebrating the ascension of our first woman vice-president.

Her father was elected in 1939 (she was born in 1940) and he was a 4-term congressman from MD before becoming mayor of Baltimore.
