...the new president's motorcade driving in slow motion through a gauntlet of wire fencing and an exclusive combination of police and military guard.
Normally I'd expect throngs of cheering supporters and other onlookers. Instead there's a Macy's parade-like narration of a police-state style procession. This is the result of a tragic intimidation, openly fomented by the republican opposition's 'uncivil war' on America; an insurrection against the very instruments of our democracy.
I won't love the enemy who made this happen.

And am I am PISSED about what Trump's band of misfit criminals have done to my home town, the city where I worked for many years not far from where the Bidens are walking now.

(54,053 posts)Besides showing us the true face of Trumpism and outing all the traitors who stood up for him, the insurrection of Jan 6th also made it necessary to not allow any gathering for today's presidential motorcade and walk to the White House. Biden is denied his triumphal parade.
On the other had, no matter how many precautions people took, a large gathering of well wishers would have become a spreader, tho probably not a super spreader, event. We'll never know how many people didn't get sick and didn't go on to spread the virus to someone else because the MagaNuts made it seem like it was dangerous to be in Washington today.
It's perverse, but I'm grateful for it anyway.
