her rising intonation at the end of almost all of her sentences. I give up! I'm just too old.

(4,528 posts)She has so much to say...
She speaks with lots of commas, so to speak, long sentences, parenthetical phrases, and sometimes raises her intonation mid sentence or at the end of a phrase.
Maybe from time to time...but typically not at the end of a sentence.

(16,903 posts)This is such a relief to see that I'm tearing up again. Done a lot of that the last 24 hours, starting with the Covid Memorial last night. It's reasurring to have a government that cares about us.

(227 posts)"Uptalking" is a scourge ... my son and my peer-aged boys both do it, and I can't stand it. It's ridiculous. It's as though you don't carry the conviction for the statement you just made.

(20,436 posts)You don't use capital letters at the start of sentences. You think this is a text message? And she is pretty - part or not.

(3,112 posts)I noticed that too, but I think it's more a function of this being her first briefing and perhaps being a little anxious. I think as time goes by she'll settle into a more comfortable tone and rhythm. I think she otherwise has shown herself to be very prepared, with an easy and confident manner.
As an aside, compare her performance tonight with Sean Spicer's first briefing four years ago when he freaked out about Trump's crowd size at the inauguration.

Its stylistic and not about substance and for that I am grateful.

That said I think she did an amazing job.
She'll only get better. From our side, I'd say keep the criticism constructive.
We get another press conference tomorrow. When did that last happen?
