People brought up Brooks' history as a vocal advocate for the LGBTQ+ community since the early 90s.
It was announced on Monday that Garth would be performing at president Biden's inauguration. Once the announcement was made, his conservative fanbase called for a boycott against Brooks.

One person tweeted, "Just lost all respect for @garthbrooks this is his Dixie Chick's moment," nodding to the moment when one of the Dixie Chicks singers, Natalie Maines, criticized George W. Bush, leading to their blacklisting from the country music community.

(5,858 posts)a couple of times, and its good, but he isn't the kind of performer that blows you away in a concert compared to just listening to his albums.

(15,359 posts)The line for tickets was around the block at our local grocery store outlet here in Lewiston, ID. I wasn't that interested, but my sister camped out and got tickets.
So a few weeks later, tickets for the Dire straits On Every Street tour went on sale. We knew it wasn't going to be the zoo we had for Garth tickets, but I volunteered to go over at zero dark 30 to get in line and score tickets for a bunch of us. I show up and there's like two dudes out there in lawn chairs and went home and went back to bed for a couple hours. I got back and there were five of us and it grew to ten before the doors opened. I still laugh about that one. Garth is great, but that much more demand than Dire Straits? Dire Straits was awesome too.

(5,858 posts)like really, really, really big. According to google he has sold 80% more albums than Dire Straits (180 million vs 100 worldwide). He is second only to The Beatles in all time sales according to https://www.businessinsider.com/best-selling-music-artists-of-all-time-2016-9 (which is both old and wrong, but gives a since of how big he was in the 90's).

(15,359 posts)good comeback after a few years off for them, but they were no longer as hot as back in the Money For Nothing days. It was the first time Knopfler did anything like that tour. If he came here, he really was almost on every street.

(31,145 posts)His actions clearly point toward him being very liberal socially supporting gay rights and writing his song "We Shall Be Free" supporting the black community after the LA Riots. It's possible he might be fiscally conservative but he would fit right into DU when it comes to social issues.
