(11,652 posts)They kept kicking the can a couple of weeks down the road. The states were gonna throw out the election results then the courts were then the supreme court was gonna overturn the election then when it didn't happen Hawley and Cruz were gonna object and Mike Pence was going to wreck it then finally Trump was going to declare martial law and everybody at Biden's inauguration was going to be rounded up and arrested as Trump secretly pulled the strings. The narrative of all that Q crap has been that Trump is some sort of secret world emperor pulling levers behind the scenes to control everything. Once he lost the election they had to scramble week by week to make his newfound weak loser status fit his all powerful position in the narrative. Once they watched him slink off to Florida and nobody got arrested the whole thing just sort of became exposed finally.

(49,047 posts)There is some talk about stuff "researched" that they think points to things happening Feb. 1 but they always have some date in the not too distant future that they can pin hopes on. They think the 10 days between 20th and 31st or nearly Feb 1 are for actions behind the scenes - there are always obscure "knowledgeable" people telling them there are "actions behind the scenes" going on. Though the second post doesn't mention it, the post is typical of the convoluted rationalizations they latch onto as a way to keep the flame of belief in the cult and its leader going. And there is really no "castle rock" chess strategy ("castling" is a basic move), but there is/was a Castle Rock movie company and it is a town in fiction.

Midnight Rider @midnite_rider 31m · Some facts to keep in mind. These things are still in play, despite the usurpers inauguration, and this is why Im still holding the line.
1) D.C. is ***still*** currently occupied by the military, still surrounded by fences and barbed wire, still swarmed with up to 65,000 troops. Why? That question still hasnt been answered. They are there at President Trumps direction. The excuse that they are there to protect the inauguration is bullshit and everyone knows it. Something is up.
2) John Durham is ***still*** investigating and because he is now a special counsel, usurper pedo Joe Biden cant call off the investigation. Durham **still** can and will issue indictments and make prosecutions, fulfilling Q/Q+s promise of transparency and accountability.
3) There are **still** 200,000 sealed indictments.
4) The people Durham is investigating, the people who **illegally** tried to undermine and overthrow President Trump in a coup are the SAME people who are in power now, the same people who committed election fraud. Their crimes can **still** be exposed and they can **still** be prosecuted.
5) If the above happens, it will be clear Donald J. Trump won the election and is the duly elected and rightful President. We dont know how long it may take to reach this scenario but it is not out of the realm of possibility. We are in uncharted waters and anything is possible.
6) President Trump is not a quitter. He has said multiple times now, even in his farewell speeches that the best is yet to come. He knows what would happen under a Biden presidency. He knows if America falls, the world falls with it. He could have given a very different kind of speech. He could have subtly brought up election fraud. He could have subtly warned us that his efforts to MAGA might soon be imperiled. (We all know he loves to make those kinds of predictions, like he did with mail-in ballots). He could have warned about the dangers of globalism, like Eisenhower warned about the military-industrial complex in his farewell speech. He did nothing of the sort. He was confident that the best is **still** yet to come. Why?
BOTTOM LINE:
The way I see it, there are still too many variables and unsettled issues for me to **logically** conclude that this is over. Its not over.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
We are watching a movie, right? Can you think of any movies where it seems like all is lost, everythings finished, the protagonist is done for, and out of nowhere a MIRACLE happens? I can think of hundreds of movies like that. In fact, its an extremely common plot device: DEUS EX MACHINA...aka GOD.
Pompeo just tweeted this Bible verse:
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21
God will prevail no matter what. With man, it may seem impossible, but with God anything is possible. Im not losing faith because I know Gods plan will prevail in the end, however long that may be.
This movie isnt over.

(11,744 posts)They all have their weaknesses and strengths. IQ is tricky and controversial because of its historical use to deny services to minorities and its role as an excuse for discriminatory practices.
There is a distribution and you are correct that half the population is below the 100 mark, however depending on the test the ranges are different. 70 or below is typically considered intellectually disabled (the current term for what was called Mental Retardation).People who fall below 70 are typically inhibited in functional activities like reading, writing, and even self care tasks. The average range appears to be from 90-110 where the largest majority of the population lies. 85-90 is typically seen as "low average".
I think it is more about critical thinking skills, the ability to discern evidence and reputable sources, and exposure more than IQ.
The saturation of right wing media from AM radio, to Fox and other networks, to the internet, has allowed people to stay inside of a bubble where they get information that confirms their predilections.
A lot of times, "going down the rabbit hole" is about feeling aggrieved, disempowered, and isolated. A lot of these conspiracies are born out of a, not completely unwarranted, distrust of government and authority. That is not to say that there is any validity to the actual claims, but more about how the government does hide things from us.
If you think back historically, the Spanish-American War had a flashpoint with the sinking of the Maine, which was blamed on Spain. The reality is that Spain was likely not responsible for the sinking. Similarly, our full on entry into Vietnam (we had already been there since Eisenhower) was linked to the Gulf of Tonkin incident, which was basically made up by the Johnson Administration. We only learned after the fact, about the sterilization projects with Black women, the secret testing of birth control on Puerto Rican women, the Tuskegee experiments, and other things that the government has done and covered up.
Some people take this skepticism too far, and start listening to any crack pot with an "explanation" that fits into their already held or learned beliefs. They lose perspective and they invest emotionally into the situation. Like people in abusive relationships that continue to think that "this time, he is really sorry for smacking me, and he will change."

I suspect that Poe_zlaw followed Qanon and accepted its claims, but never fully embraced actually being part of the movement. The woman in the video is another matter. By the time she made the video yesterday, so much of her identity was linked to Qanon that she'd be left totally adrift without it.

So we are most definitely not out of the woods, especially when they have demagogues like Cruz and Hawley and traitors like Bannon, Stone, and the Flynn brothers to regroup.
That said, if these two people can be the vanguard of the deprogramming effort, that's another thing. If they can somehow convert one or more of their email list and then get them to do the same, maybe we have some hope. But the hardcore oathkeepers, three percenters, retired (or active) police and service members are still with us. And I can only hope that the Justice Department will redouble its efforts to break these groups the way they attacked organized crime. I'll guarantee some of the same people who were pumping out the idiot piss of incoherence to easily manipulated dimwits were behind the manufacture of t-shirts, banners, flags, and other accoutrements of identity for the gullible folks who went down this ridiculous rabbit hole. They got rich(er) off delusional chumps. They understood a timeless business model that has yet to fail: a fool and their money are soon parted.

"If I could draw, I'd turn this into a graphic novel. I didn't know how many words this was going to take, and even a page or two is very, very hard."

The woman crying and asking Trump to "save us from satan" and Biden's "crazy flag" is just sad.

(10,843 posts)What was the point? My answer would be to increase polarization, suspicion and hate. This worked for the insurrectionist/sovereign citizen groups who want the perks of the country but none of the accountability or responsibility. White nationalists are reportedly combing these shocked and disillusioned Q-members attempting to seduce them into their own groups of racists and haters. Some will undoubtedly sign on because the community, regardless of how hateful and outrageous, is part of the seduction.
But for the woman in the video some have been driven straight into fanatic madness.
It's frightening what Qanon has done to a portion of the American public. They tapped into the underlying fear and bigotry that exists in about 35-40% of the white population and driven that into a frenzy of victimhood and a hunger for violent retaliation. The Awakening was all about retribution of purported crimes against humanity--global pedophilia rings, communism, Satan worship. The list goes on and on. How and why Donald Trump was designated as a Savior of anything defies reason.
They played the game. The game ultimately played them.
