I don't think he'll run again, but he will pretend to just to cause a rift in the GOP (for kicks) and to grift money.

-It would split the GOP vote so they'll never be in power again (Drumph could care less about the GOP and the turtle knows it.)
-Knowing the GOP is done, Turtle may retreat into his shell and never come out again.
-Drumph's new extremist party will make it clear who the real traitors and terrorists are. The sane moderate Repubs can remain in their current party, but they won't have power as long as the Democrats hold together.
-Facing certain defeat if he ran for high public office, Drumph will probably never even try to do so. He'll just tease his crazy followers enough to get as much of their $$ as possible, maybe even start (or join) some RWNJ media venture.

The equation?

LT ? HD

LT = Love Trump
HD = Hate Democrats

In his estimation, these voters have 2 options (they'll NEVER support Democratic candidates)...

So if LT > HD, the GOP loses voters who simply stay home and cannot be recouped.
But if LT< HD, he wants to avoid offending them completely to keep their votes in his column and harm the Democratic Party at the same time. He would in this case view the currently butthurt Trumpers as recoupable assets...

There is NOTHING empathetic or emotional about the Turtle. Nothing.

The GOP wants Trump neutered and wants Trump's followers back under their tent, no matter how reluctantly. If Trump is able to run in 2024, it will be third party, and it will split the GOP wide open. Conviction also serves to make a clean break between Trump and the GOP, and McConnell can sweep any stains the GOP may have taken as being Trump-related. Expect some form of censure on both Cruz and Hawley, but not outright expulsion.

he may try to use that as leverage.

Don't let him.

We can apply the 14th amendment sec. 3 with a majority vote if Schumer puts it in the rules. That's what mitch-trump's-bitch has been doing for 4 years....hell....for 12 years.

I believe the RETHUGS are the ones that do not want him to ever run again. (because he will SPLIT the party with 3rd party maybe?)
