Probably the only time that Boebert and Greene will have the same vote as AOC and Ohmar (of course Boebert and Greene voted this way because they are partisan hacks) or that many Republicans will side with Biden....

Qanon Reps that are infecting their Party.

(8,543 posts)2. 10 U.S. Code § 113 - Secretary of Defense
(a) There is a Secretary of Defense, who is the head of the Department of Defense, appointed from civilian life by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. A person may not be appointed as Secretary of Defense within seven years after relief from active duty as a commissioned officer of a regular component of an armed force.
If the seven year stipulation in the law is just going to be overruled, perhaps they should change the law.
It doesn't seem unreasonable to vote in favor of people following U.S. laws. To me, anyway.

(4,167 posts)3. I would agree
But Boebert and Greenes votes were just straight up partisan had nothing to do with upholding the law....if it was Trumps nominee they would have voted yes....unlike AOCs or even Cheneys vote

I agree with your observation in the OP. But viewing this particular vote with a larger perspective leads me to the conclusion that Congress should perhaps set an example of following laws passed by the very institution they belong to if they expect the rest of us to.
