Welp, from McConnell on down to Concerned Susan, the GOP is telling Biden to GTFO on day #1

The outrageous sedition from the GOP continues. They failed in their January 6, 2021, coup attempt. Their encore is to:
A) Accuse President Biden of sewing disunity.
B) Fillibuster a mundane senate organizing resolution at McConnell's direction.
C) Send out Concerned Sue to declare President Biden's COVID economic package DOA.
D) Send out Sean Hannity to say that President Biden has had and I quote "a disastrous first week".
E) McConnell said on the senate floor this morning something akin to the fact that President Biden is already taking America in the "wrong direction"

3 ways to handle this, ladies and gentlemen:

1. Nuke the fillibuster tomorrow in the senate. This ensures that President Biden's COVID economic recovery plan can pass with just 51 votes and we don't need to waste our 1 budget reconciliation item on something that should pass 100-0.
2. Ensure that the DOJ knows it has complete and total authority on day #1 to investigate the corruption of the entire GOP since June 16, 2015 (escalator), in the most thorough possible way and that charges are encouraged.
3. President Biden should be on the phone with Vladimir Putin telling him to call off his bought-and-paid for hounds in the GOP or else economic sanctions the likes of which they only could have imagined post their Ukraine invasion are coming.

We should get it out of our system now. They have no intention to work with President Biden at all, just like they had no intention to work with President Obama from day 1 onward. They went nuclear on us on day #1. Time to go nuclear on them while we still have the upper hand in public opinion and while they are dramatically weakened and rudderless.

The GOP is diminishing in number, and the only way they can win anymore is by cheating, gerrymandering, and using the Electoral College edge. I hope very much that the crazies they have embraced will go off in a snit and form a 3rd party, doing things like primarying Republican office-holders. As it is, the more aware decent folk are leaving to become Independents — I don’t expect many of them to re-register as Democrats.

What’s left in office are lonely guys like Romney and an awful lot of bastards like McConnell who are in it strictly for the power and wealth. And yeah, I think McConnell is deep down evil.

Just a wishful thought, but wouldn’t it be great if Schumer would assign someone to court Mitt Romney and encourage him to become an Independent for his remaining time in office? He’s a decent guy, in his own way, and this Insurrection has got to be eating at him, not to mention Trump’s corruption and immorality. Senator Tom Udall is a Mormon, and a Democrat...

I still remember the comments from one of his sons and the glare from the other to Obama, in Obama's debate with Romney in October 2012:

https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/10/tagg-romney-wanted-punch-obama-debate/322415/

If looks could kill...

"Behind their handsome faces, the Romney boys are a little intense. Tagg Romney said the debate made you want to 'jump out of your seat and you want to rush down the debate stage and take a swing at him' -- him being the President of the United States."

From: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/filibuster-or-bust-how-the-senate-could-get-rid-of-the-filibuster/

There is an easy way, and there is a hard way.

-snip-

...the easy way (is) a procedural move colloquially and melodramatically known as the "nuclear option." A new Senate precedent can be created when a senator raises a point of order, or states that a Senate rule is being violated. If the presiding officer agrees, a new precedent is established. If the presiding officer disagrees, another senator can appeal the ruling, and a simple majority can overturn the presiding officer's ruling and create a new precedent.

It's been done before. In 2013, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid invoked the nuclear option to end filibusters for all presidential nominations except for Supreme Court nominations, after Republicans blocked Mr. Obama's nominations to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.

In 2017, the Republicans, now back in control of the Senate, struck back and used the nuclear option to end filibusters for the Supreme Court nomination of Robert Gorsuch, and then again in 2018 for Brett Kavanaugh's nomination.

In 2019, the Senate went "nuclear" again, voting to slash debate time for some nominees from 30 hours to two hours. By June, the Senate had confirmed 200 of President Trump's judicial nominees.

-snip-

"Every time the Senate uses the nuclear option, it makes it easier for the next majority to use it," said Sarah Binder, a senior fellow in Governance Studies at the Brookings Institution and professor of political science at George Washington University.

We need to build up a citizen demand to get rid of the filibuster, once and for all.

of not seating GA senators might backfire and bring Manchin, Tester and Feinstein on board. Whitehouse said one of their options is to wear them down by staying on the floor until they’ve had enough and want to go home for a weekend eventually ...

The clock stated ticking yesterday. Biden indicated he knew it. Schumer, with Harris presiding, needs to put a stop to Republican obstruction in the Senate using an equally accelerated schedule. We risk getting little done, and then getting hammered for it in the 2022 midterms, if we don‘t.

I couldn’t sleep after understanding from Chris Hayes’ explanation earlier this evening what’s happening in the Senate. And I’ll be so pissed if Schumer doesn’t take this bull by the horns and govern by the majority mandate that we won in November. As was pointed out on Hayes’ show, what will keep us in power is RESULTS, not holding back on these procedures for fear of the Rs using them when they’re in power.

Hear this Schumer: There were too many of us who worked our tails off and stretched our budgets for donations to get Ds in power to then have it all taken away by McConnell! Get this solved, or expect to lose major grassroots support, but SOON!!!!!
