CNN: Whisper Campaign to impeach Trump Circulating Among GOP

Jamie Gangel on CNN now reports that there is a whisper campaign among influential Republicans underway to convince Republicans to convict Trump in the impeachment.

Not a whole lot of details yet...

She says she saw a nine point memo. Showing it on TV now.

EDIT: Here is the story

https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/22/politics/mcconnell-trump-impeachment-conviction-republicans/index.html

Washington (CNN) - As the House prepares to send articles of impeachment to the Senate on Monday, CNN has learned that dozens of influential Republicans around Washington -- including former top Trump administration officials -- have been quietly lobbying GOP members of Congress to impeach and convict Donald Trump. The effort is not coordinated but reflects a wider battle inside the GOP between those loyal to Trump and those who want to sever ties and ensure he can never run for President again.

None of it matters till they put their chips in on a meaningful vote... the only one of them ever done that so far is Mittens.

It would get Trump out of the GOP and off their backs for any potential run in the future (even assuming Trump has a future).

Yeah, the Trumpanzees will screech and fling their feces for a little while, and offer death threats. But once the new season of whatever jackoff reality TV show they rely on for their tawdry fulfillment starts, they'll quiet down, and disappear from the national scene.

every other potential candidate is thrown into disarray. Those GOPers encouraging
conviction know that.

6. Agree. Plus, many trump voters never voted before anyway. And some of them were previously

Bernie voters, who switched when Hillary got the nomination. If the republicans ever want to bring their REAL base back into the fold, they'll get rid of trump once and for all.

The current trump base is an anomaly, but includes some more sane republicans just because they'd never vote for a democrat....I know some of them.

7. Accurate. It's a shame Repubs don't want to convict him

because they should, and because he is guilty of trying to undermine an election (among other things) but if this whisper campaign is what it takes to get rid of him, I'll take it. Just make him go away.

she was also saying they should impeach him because they want to get rid of Trump BUT they want to keep "trumpism". they still want to build a wall for example. so it seems we are not rid of those wackos.... so long as they vote for Rs.

4. Could help to send supportive emails to Repub Senators urging they vote to convict

anyone who has a Repub Senator in their state who has spoken out against Trump and his false claims of election fraud could be a potential yes vote especially with support of constituents who want Trump held accountable. I have done this for one of my Senators.

8. I Believe Senate Will Impeach - It's GOP's Last Chance to Rid Themselves of Trump as Candidate

Trump is a danger to the GOP whether or not he is impeached but I think he will be less of a danger if he's barred from ever running for POTUS again in 2024. I suspect some GOP Senators will vote for impeachment and subsequently decide not to run again in 2022 or 2024.

You need what, 17 of these puke bags to grow spines?

I am skeptical. For five years now they have these fitful moments of talking big or whatever, but in the end they always bend to the Frankenstein they created - their zombie base.

trump put the lives of every member of the Senate, the House, and VP Pence in danger. That mob could have killed them.

Why is is hard to convict and ban him from ever holding office again?
