2022 will require an effort of the magnitude of Stacey Abrams' work in Georgia

I'm hearing the coverage of the NYT story on Trump's attempted DOJ coup, and I'm sorry...I am just not getting any indication that enough Republicans in the Senate are prepared to vote for conviction.

Just as the Senate punted the first impeachment trial to voters (and ultimately lost their Senate majority, and Trump lost the presidency), all of the Senators who were up for sedition and all of the Senators who vote to acquit need a Stacey Abrams-level of voter turnout against them in 2022.

Please leave room to be pleasantly surprised if the Republicans do the right thing. The only reason they will is if McConnell believes it's his best path to regaining the Senate, and he can convince enough of them to go along with it. Otherwise, expect the scorched earth voter scenario in 2022, because it will be the only way to tip the scales of justice.
