She thinks it's perfect because most of the time when people say it, it is because they don't think things are going very well.

(Don't be surprised if the Republic turns a deaf ear to this very democratic idea.)

Those of us who have lapsed from Unitarianism are lost little lambs indeed!

He was about three years out from marrying his longtime lady friend and retiring from the Catholic priest hood. For the second time.

...I'd LOVE for all of the God blessing of this, that, and the other thing to stop, and the oaths on top of Bibles, etc.

As a practical person, however, I know you've got to pick your battles, and we'd still have Trump as President if Biden weren't showing all those God-fearin' 'mericans that he's a "man of deep faith".

I live a pretty privileged existence despite the unpopularity of atheism in American culture, so that does make it easier to put practicality ahead of my ideals of separation of church and state.

Like you, I get why Biden is being very public about his faith. And I don't doubt for a second that it is genuine. It's like the small, very bitter side dish of an otherwise great meal. I scrape it to the side and try to ignore it.

I, personally, just can't share in that. And I've tried. But logically it doesn't add up. And I would fell silly (and dishonest) trying to pretend otherwise.
