McConnell may be a snake, but he's a transparent one. I already had this current crap figured out.

In interviews with associates of McConnell, they point out that McConnell has always loathed Trump but saw him as a means to end to stack the courts and advance his own agenda, but after the loss of the two Senate seats in Georgia that were held by Republicans and the storming of the U.S. Capitol, he wants Trump banished from the GOP.

As Mayer reports, "Unnamed associates revealed to reporters on Capitol Hill that McConnell was no longer speaking to Trump, and might vote to convict him if the impeachment process moved to a Senate trial," before adding that Rep. John Yarmuth (D-KY) relayed, "Three years ago, I said he'd wait until Trump was an existential threat to the Party, and then cut him loose. He's been furious with Trump for a long time. Many who know him have talked with him about how much he hates Trump."

As it stands now, McConnell would like to see Trump impeached -- as well as banned from running for office again -- as long as he is not blamed for it.

McConnell operates via raw power politics. It'll take raw power politics to deal with him. OrlandoDem2 Jan 2021 #5

There were many indications from the start.. I understand what Mitch's agenda was as regards judges. But that agenda would never be threatened under Pence. And we were informed of the many fights he had with Trump, and one leaked to the press where he cursed him furiously during one of his phone calls, I think that might have been around Trump's effort to repeal ACA or might have been the government shutdown.

In any event, last year's impeachment sham trial which Mitch orchestrated with the intention of keeping Trump from being removed remains a huge puzzle to me. Because he could have had Pence. And quite frankly stood a better chance of winning 2021 if
trump was removed given that it was clear that things would get worse with him still in office. And let's not forget Mitch had every opportunity to invoke the 25th, which he also refused.

In my view he bears as much responsibility for everything that occurred on January 6th as much as every single sympathizer, enabler, and instigator themselves.

Yeah Mitch you too are guilty. And always will be.
