For the billion dollar lottery winner. I could use an instant billion dollar windfall. I could pay off all of my bills and have pocket change left over.

But, I'd actually prefer to see a 1000 people winning $1M each. It would do more good as a force multiplier.

3. I haven't bought a lottery ticket in 20 years, and I have won as often as friends that play weekly.

I don't like the lottery because I see too many desperate people gambling their last dollar on a losing preposition. I see the lottery as a tax on the ignorant; on people that can't calculate odds. I see it as a scam the state plays on its most vulnerable people. I felt so bad when I saw a woman buying two one dollar scratch-off tickets hoping to win enough money to buy gas to drive to work that when she came up empty, I bought her some gas. I couldn't take her tears...

I am dumb enough to pay it.

I get a fantasy for a few hours.

Schools get to pay a couple more teachers.

A little innocent fun for me....

I do know, however, that many folks have an addiction to the dopamine rush that gambling provides.

Nothing sadder than the families wrecked by the addiction to video poker and other state-operated gaming.
