One lucky person is taking home a $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot.
Early Saturday, lotto officials announced a person in Michigan won the prize, estimated at $1 billion or $739.6 million should the winner choose a lump-sum payment -- before taxes.
The winning ticket was sold at a Kroger in Novi, a northern suburb of Detroit -- about a 30-minute drive from the city -- the state lottery website confirmed. The winning numbers were 4-26-42-50-60 with a Mega Ball number of 24.
The winner's identity has not been revealed, but, per state lottery rules, they must come forward to claim their winnings.

(16,446 posts)"The suspense is over: After a week of wondering and rumors that fascinated Massachusetts, a Chilean immigrant who worked as a Boston millionaire's live-in babysitter stepped out of anonymity today to accept the largest individual lottery prize in the nation's history.
Maria Grasso, a 54-year-old mother of two college-age children, won the $197 million Big Game jackpot eight days ago after selecting all six winning numbers at random. Without letting her secret out, she claimed the prize and chose to receive it in a lump sum rather than an annuity, which gave her $104 million. So this morning officials deposited in her bank more than $70 million--the amount left over after taxes--and Grasso appeared to tell the public about her incredible luck.
All smiles in a brand-new navy suit with gold buttons and shiny gold-dotted lapel, Grasso said she has no definite plans for the money. But she has quit her job caring for the four young children of Christopher Gabrieli, a wealthy venture capitalist who ran for Congress last year, and Hilary Bacon Gabrieli, a tax lawyer and daughter of local socialite Smoki Bacon."...(more)
