For the record, I would not give two shits about Gaetz wearing make-up or carrying a beauty bag IF...IF...he was a morally decent and honorable Republican (rare aren't they ?) or a Democrat or at least an honorable person in politics. He is NOT any of those. He is a seditionist-backer and liar.

The pompadour enhances the the rural, southern, Anglo-Scots, "real American" look: the people who settled in the mountain areas of what is now Kentucky and Tennessee back in the early 1800s, and haven't gotten the word that the Civil War is over. Trump's core, basically - Gaetz is trying to appeal to them in hopes of becoming the heir presumptive.
