Is there anybody here who thinks they wouldn't be arrested and in jail without bond on a charge of inciting an insurrection? Every speaker at that Trump rally prior to the Trump insurrection at the Capitol should be held without bond and be criminally charged.

(46,026 posts)State attorneys general are being meticulous in making the case against Trump. Ensuring their evidence is incontrovertible, articulating their charges in specificity. All to survive expected attempts at dismissal and/or summary judgment. Plus they may still be waiting for documents to arrive in their offices. They simply aren't ready yet.

(10,039 posts)to be confirmed for some direction and confirmation for any federal charges but I would like it soon so we can find out if he issued some pocket pardons. The state charges are probably waiting for the impeachment trial to be over.

Why is everything so lopsided. Why is everything okay if you are a republican.

(1,602 posts)Consider as well the fact that neither Trump nor his family, have been pardoned of anything. It's too late. There were some major questions after the election about whether Trump would receive immunity, and if so, what form would that take. He didn't, which means that it now becomes feasible to think about indicting Trump on federal charges: fraud, racketeering, tax evasion, bribery, conspiracy, and fomenting insurrection. That wasn't necessarily on the table even a week ago, and it changes the landscape for what and how Trump can be brought down dramatically.
Honestly, I don't care whether he gets removed by the Senate - they can put limits on his ability to run again and hurt him pension-wise, but expecting the Republicans in the Senate to fall on their swords is probably expecting too much, even with McConnell notstanding in the way. However, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Trump is now accountable for EVERYTHING, which means he can be indicted by a Federal Grand Jury on a whole host of charges that AREN'T political.
