Mike Pence is 'homeless' and bouncing between couches of Indiana politicians: report

Matthew Chapman
January 26, 2021

On Tuesday, Business Insider reported that former Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen do not have a permanent residence since leaving the vice president's mansion — and though Republicans close to the couple aren't exactly sure of their current living arrangements, they believe the former second couple is "couch-surfing" at the residences of various Indiana officials.

"According to one source, the Pences are staying at the dolled-up cabin nearby that the Indiana governor uses as a retreat. If so, they'd need permission to spend the night from Pence's former lieutenant governor, who now serves as governor, Eric Holcomb," reported Tom LoBianco. "Two Republicans close to the Pences said they heard that the former second couple was staying at Pence's brother's place in Columbus. The one thing everyone is certain of is that when the Pences moved out of the vice president's residence at the US Naval Observatory in Washington, they had nowhere to go. The former second couple doesn't actually own a house."

Per the report, the Pences are in a precarious position since leaving office.

"Republicans who spoke with Insider also said they wondered whether Pence and his team are closely guarding their new domicile because of the wave of death threats he faced just three weeks ago," said the report. "The Trump-incited mob that stormed the Capitol earlier this month shouted that they wanted to hang Pence, and some of the people came within about 100 feet of confronting him and his family as they were hurried to a secure location in the Capitol."

Furthermore, the report noted, Pence has essentially been cut off from all contact with former President Donald Trump, who was enraged by his refusal to try to overturn the election results during congressional certification. Pence, for his part, is reportedly resentful that Trump put his life in danger.

They were not.
The article from forbes would seem to indicate that he planned or was able to save for retirement about a poorly as a typically working dunce like myself. I find myself almost taking pity on him.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/chasewithorn/2019/07/18/how-mike-pence-became-a-millionaire-from-government-pensions/

He has about a million in assets that are due to mainly the combined pensions of $35k/year from serving as Governor of Indiana and $50k/year total from his time in congress and VP. So $85k pension in retirement isn't chump change but it's not big $$ either. The Pences also have some significant parent plus student loans of between $100k and $245k that they took out for the 3 kids. I have some for my 3 as well.

So it looks like Pence is probably not your typical crooked republican and he and the wife seem like decent parents.

Then again he probably stands a chance of getting a book deal or two and will probably have employment opportunties in right radio etc..

I guess it's par for the course. Pence has all the wit, charm and intelligence of an empty jar of mayonnaise. Don't former VP's get secret service protection if they need it? They should buy a Winnebago, but then again, they'll probably get stuck under a low bridge somewhere. I'm having a hard time trying to find any sympathy for this asshole.

what is it these guys don't get? Donald Trump is bad, corrupt to the bone. Pence is a fool for letting himself get sucked into this deal.

Who does that, when you have his kind of income?
That was the first thought that came to mind.

Pence is toxic. Who would want to have him anywhere near them? The stench of Trump will rub off on anyone who helps him.

Then add in the fact that there's a mob of idiots who were yelling for his death. I wouldn't feel safe having him anywhere near me.

Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.

With the mob wanting to hang him, best he not stay too long in any one place. "Mother we have to keep on the move, and gosh darnit I said no cell phones!"

He hasn't paid rent, a mortgage, light bill, cable, heat, water, home taxes, home repairs, or a phone bill in 8 years. That has all been provided to him by the government.

His salary for the past 4 years 230,700 (922,800.) His salary as Gov he earned 111.688. (446,752.)

If he can't buy himself a house with that salary, he can live in a tent.

People forget, but Pence started off as an on-air RW talkshow host. He's not been successful in business, just successful in chatter. He's the radio version, the cut-rate version, of a reality show star.

Surely the death threats would ebb after a while. Maybe the FBI can put him in a WPP. His face is forgettable enough.
