Let the GOP vote for Trump and protect him from impeachment

Let the GOP vote for Trump and protect him.
Let Republicans own him, so he can own them.
They had their chance to get away from him and save their party.
They blew it. Because they love him. They are the same.
His policies and bigotries really are them.
They are Trump, Trump is them.
Now the thing to do is just destroy all Republicans, politically.

After all the upliftingness of the inauguration, I've been having a lump in my throat all this week. Just feel so discouraged with so many in our country!

COVID isolation getting to me rn too.

...still wants to actually be the loyal opposition within a real democracy and have reasoned debates and hold by the votes of the Congress and of the people. You know, the good old days. Barring or waiting for that, we do need to just shove things down McConnell's and McCarthy's throats and, and I hate this, govern by Exec Order where needed. When the Repubs end up looking inept and powerless, all but the hard core Trumpists will look for an alternative. Some hopefully will see the good in Dem policies and follow, but I suspect that will be fairly few. But either kicking out the Trumpists and restoring some level of sanity to the Repub party (I know, loooooonnnnggg shot) or starting something new that is of a conservative bent but based on solid policy and moral beliefs, not cult of personality and irrationality, seems a possibility. They will understand though that this dilutes, not strengthens, their base in the near term, meaning being in the political wilderness for some time.

The stupidity is awesome. I used to consider myself something of a libertarian and kind of a supporter of congressman the vater Paul but now I know that was naive.

These Republicans are seditionists. It is that simple. They need to be labled and called for what they are. Enemies of our democracy!

But they are cowards. So they won’t convict him, and Trump will go on to gas them like rats if they do anything but totally kiss his ass during the future.

But he is going to stab everyone of them that don’t totally acquiesce to him in the back. I just hope that Democratic politician and sane Americans can negate the damaging fallout of republicans letting an evil person like Trump stay relevant.

They should convict in the Senate, deal with blowback and realize what every pol knows--4 years is forever in politics. Their party will have time to heal and they can have a chance to avoid continuing implosion.

And failure to convict him in the Impeachment process will energize the Dems and the DOJ people to make sure tRump is held accountable. They cannot let him skate. They just can't. This is not just a political matter; it's criminal.

get rid of Trump. Even McConnell is furiously backpedaling of late from wanting to get rid of Trump for good. I hope that Trump slits everyone of their throats, except for Romney, Murkowski and Tomey (who is retiring), those are the only three that have come close to holding Trump accountable for his criminality.

Lindsey Graham started to exit but did a quick U turn after one airport heckling. The only thing Trump could do that is worse is to raise an actual army and try another offensive. I believe that he is too lazy and cowardly to even think about it. So how do you oppose Trump on some horrible foreign policy position, like when he pulled out of Syria, when you have gone along with inciting a mob to overthrow the elected president? There is no other place for them in the future to draw a line and say "no more".

You are spot on, they ARE Trump.

Media pundits seem to be implying that the impeachment is a pointless exercise because "there are probably not enough votes to convict".

How wrong they are! The point here is to lay out the case in full view of the American people. Call witnesses and display evidence to accurately paint the full, lurid picture of the attempted coup. Rub the Republicans' faces in it, and then make them go on the record with their vote: either for or against violent insurrection and the attempt to overthrow American democracy.
