Even Pence, who was on the list of those to be hanged or executed did not invoke 25th Amendment.

(933 posts)These are United States senators, the ultimate privileged group in the country. They have choose and vast resource at their command.
They are not victims. They are complicit.

(7,430 posts)as the House managers present an overwhelmingly convincing case for conviction and future removal. They won't be able to sustain their naked support of Trump.
The entire nation and the world will hear the charges and the evidence. It will make Congressional Trumpers look like fools to the nation. The truth is knocking at their door, and they'd better answer it.

(2,248 posts)Trump should NOT have been the type of person with access to state secerets. Coupled with Russian intelliegence and his wanna-be mafia persona, Rs are under his spell due to blackmail, bribery or bullying. Mix that with Trump's understanding of how to tap the deep grievances of facists WAITING to be unleashed (his "army" of voters), and voila, no Republican will go against him.
I just don't get it. Bush Sr. and Carter were absoultely kicked to the curb by their own parties and general population after their one-term losses. Yet, Trump is stronger than ever. I guess the lies amplified through the RW media have brainwashed folks. We're dealing with tens of MILLIONS of Americans who are not rooted in reality.
Stockholm Syndrome???
From Wikipedia
There are four key components that characterize Stockholm syndrome:
A hostage's development of positive feelings towards the captor
No previous relationship between hostage and captor
A refusal by hostages to cooperate with police forces and other government authorities (unless the captors themselves happen to be members of police forces or government authorities).
A hostage's belief in the humanity of the captor because they cease to perceive the captor as a threat when the victim holds the same values as the aggressor.

(5,641 posts)I do not worship him.
These people have been captured and contained and continue to support him even after an attempted coup.
And, since they literally STILL HAVE CONTROL of the Senate. The Capitol Insurrection shall go unpunished.
Schumer does not have control. Manchin is seeing to that.

And the rest are just self-serving opportunists, as they've always been.

(5,641 posts)Waco was a cult.
This is about 74 million people ...including current lawmakers and the former VP who is still in hiding because of death threats. A cult? No. Cant agree.

I'm not trying to get you to agree. Just pointing out there are several definitions of the word.
Really there are no words (or there are too many words) to describe what the gop has become under 45. Cult works for me, and EarlG.

That's hostage taking, and it is ongoing. But many hostages can and do develop Stockholm Syndrome, where they identify with their captors. That is also happening.
We need to stop the hostage taking first, then deal with the latent psychotic issues such as Stockholm Syndrome.

They were like this well before Trump took office.
