Ok, here me out first, and then flame me.
I have no desire to read more Tweets from Two Tons of Fun. And to be fair, the tranquility of not being inundated with pure, rank stupidity has been refreshing. But, it seems to me, and given the fact that he can't keep his mouth shut about anything, it would be useful to know what he's doing. Or better yet, what he's planning. He telegraphs everything on Twitter. For example, I would like to know why McCarthy is going down to Florida to meet with him. What are they planning? Trump would not be able to keep his trap shut about it, and it would be useful if we all knew. Plus, I think his Twitter, if still active, just might prove to be useful for us in the upcoming Senate impeachment trial.
Thoughts?

(51,308 posts)Insurrectionists should not have a platform.
And hell, if for no other reason, at least I dont have to read them all here. Some seem to hang on his every word.

I could not disagree more strongly with you. Really, Twit should be shut down for their contribution to the GOP's crimes.

(33,198 posts)So far, right wing elements of the mass media have taken up the slack.
So, all we've gained by the Twitter ban is a little time to prepare.

(15,948 posts)We need a drama break. Its been exhausting. But once thing are settled, I dont care as long as media doesnt feed into it and discuss his tweets everyday.

(30,613 posts)Sure, let's just get the media to ignore Turd's Twit posts.
Hell, NO. Keep Turd off of Twit, and work to put Twit out of business altogether.

(7,257 posts)For one thing, any user who wasn't POTUS would have been banned ages ago for what he posted, and once his account was permanently suspended, he tried to get around it by using different accounts, which is against Twitter's terms and conditions, so that deserves a double ban for life.
For another, for five years or so, his Twitter feed allowed him to dominate the news and motivate his supporters. Giving him back that ability, especially at this point, would be idiocy.
You're also assuming that what Trump posts on Twitter would be reliable. It was often a direct line to his stupid id, but he's warped and wily enough to use it to misdirect.
Enough is being leaked via the likes of Maggie Haberman and blabbermouths in his circle to get some idea of what's going on in his head, little of which is surprising or particularly interesting. How much of that is reliable is another question. How much it matters is yet another.

There has to be a safer way to get inside his head.

(12,165 posts)content Trump will post. He posts to provoke people, and keeps a lot to himself.
In fact, he rarely puts anything of substance in writing. His method is to berate people in person or on the phone.
I do not want to go back to a time when every provocative tweet from Trump becomes news.

(4,862 posts)On one hand, I am thrilled the media doesnt spend hours parsing, opining, or pearl clenching over his latest. On the other hand, the more he is kept behind closed doors, the more harm he can do without public knowledge. Muzzling Trump is a bit of relief to the Romneys of the party, and provides some cover for the silent enablers who can claim ignorance about things Trump does going forward. For some voters, Trumps seeming absence may lull them into a false sense of security. We need voters to remain engaged. Hopefully, Joes agenda will be so successful that this entire issue becomes moot. Fingers crossed.

(14,047 posts)There was an article posted here that said that misinformation on Twitter was down by a huge amount since Trump was banned. Since so many of our citizens live on Twitter, its beneficial to our societal health to keep him muzzled.

(19,114 posts)He would make Joes job so much harder if he had Twitter. Everyday would be a new outrageous attack making headlines.
He violated their terms of service. Its good for the country hes off. But I do not expect it to be permanent. Theyre will be a big push to get him back on it later this year.
For one thing, it's always the same shit with him. We've already seen it all. All letting him have a platform does is allow him to continue to spread it.
