What people don't get is that a ton of bills get through quietly. That stuff can have a big effect too.

Will Republicans effectively block some big bills for Dems? Yes, but as the author says, the Dems will get their agenda passed one way or another.

And this relief bill is going to leave Reps scrambling to remain relevant. This bill is supported by 74% of the public and Reps will be known as opposed to it while Dems delivered it to the American people.

Of course Trump was gonna loose. He really lost last time and hasn’t won many fans since, quite the opposite. Plus, Joe Biden is seen as a decent enough guy by a majority of the population so naturally he won by what? 9 million votes?

So I get why the pundits push the doom but why do intelligent DU’ers? Makes one wonder at times, just one of those things that make ya go hmmm.

"But there is no scenario – absolutely none – where they don’t get their legislation passed."

Apparently Mr. Palmer was in an effing coma from 2009 to 2011. If any of this is true, it was also true when Harry Reid was Majority Leader, and nothing got done without 60 or more votes.

Dems aren't seeking bipartisan support this time, which is a good thing. Oh, we'll give Repubs a chance to be decent but if they don't then oh well. Democrats are acting much tougher than ten years ago and I expect them to continue.

Republicans can and will continue to obstruct to the extent they can get away with it. Yes, if they cross a line, democrats can nuke the filibuster in whole or in part.

But republicans are masters at pushing the envelope and managing media perception. So manchin and sinema will consult pollsters and focus groups and check out the media coverage and if the public perception is that republicans haven't crossed a line, then they they won't touch the filibuster and some democratic legislation will die.

Even if they do cross a line and we nuke the filibuster entirely, it won't be right away. We've got a ton of problems to fix abs legislation to pass in the next two years. Maybe even just this year as passing legislation during an election year is more challenging anyway.

And so any delaying republicans can do hurts democrats and America as it means that much less time to fix our democracy and our economy and so on.
