They'll just spread their animosity, craziness and hate to others.
The only way you can deprogram a cult member is to remove them from all influences until they can regain their original self. If that cannot be done, the person will most probably never come back to normal.

(3,822 posts)The strategies to deal with delusional thinking, in whatever form, are always the same. Anasognosia prevents the person from being capable of recognizing a problem...whatever the delusion. In the schizophrenic, the delusions are confirmed by the voices in their head. To the "Q infected", the delusion is confirmed by the posts on their phone. All other sources of information are deemed "fake".
The PT article closes with a nod to "take care of yourself" and get help if you need it. Sometimes, it is the best you can do.
1. Ostracize and ignore.
2. Refuse help.
3. Turn them in to the cops if they do anything that furthers right wing violence.
4. Practice self care.

(6,309 posts)It's really that bad....
I don't know anyone who is involved with QAnon. I cannot fathom it.
HOWEVER, I do believe in one particular conspiracy theory. I believe that there is a "conspiracy" to keep people of color from being considered equal to white people on every level and in every arena. I honestly believe that there are some people within the 1% who think - how can we squash people of color. And then, how can we convince all of the white people in America to go along with it.
We have dealt with Jim Crow, forced incarceration, lynching, redlining, police brutality and out and out murder. We have been parodied, mocked, insulted, made the butt of jokes, twisted, caricatured and misrepresented. And the people who did it, and who do it, often have an agenda. The continuation of white supremacy.
Am I crazy to believe that there is a conspiracy? I don't think so.
I just don't know what to do about it. Black Lives Matter, Black Votes Matter, self-education, get the ball rolling, but not so far. Because the conspiracy has very, very deep roots. Over half of the signers of the Declaration of Independence had slaves, and believed that black people were inferior. Very, very deep roots.
