(9,900 posts)the same things...as if they were the truth, and she was warning me in order to help me.
This woman was the head of human resources for an entire county school district.
A relative of mine and his wife also believe all of it, and convinced another relative cousin. My relative has a masters in chemical engineering, his wife is a CPA, and the other cousin is a college teacher. I'm here to tell you, these people are TOTALLY brainwashed into this cult.

I can't believe what some of the people actually believe.
One character was a big time Indian (India) scammer. He got thrown out of India which is probably pretty hard to do. He came to the US and started a community in Oregon. He stole probably a huge amount if money from his believers who thought he was a Hindu mystic.
He got thrown out of Oregon because the place was just a huge orgy among other things.
He went back to India. Changed his name to Osho and reinvented himself as a Zen master. Then he died a mysterious death. Probably a heart attack but he may have been poisoned by his enemies.
It's easy to check this guy out. There is information right there on Google. He was famous in Oregon. He called himself the Bwagwan . I may have spelled that wrong. He bought Bentleys to drive around in.
And yet you would not believe the people who still think he was wonderful. People are just so easy to scam.

(82,849 posts)There is a documentary about the Rajneeshees, who took over the small town of Antelope in Wasco County. Early 1980s. After that scam went bust, he re-christened himself as Osho.

(833 posts)But Jones' followers were squirreled away in a South American jungle. These people are among us. As another poster noted, they're our relatives. And instead of convincing followers to drink Kool-Aid, these people are being convinced to kill and maim.
