Even the ones we like (Nicole Wallace, Ann Navarro, Steve Schmidt, etc...) They created Trump and Marjorie green, and the domestic terrorists who invaded the Capitol...they let this stuff and people like them fester for decades...this crap has been around for years and the people I named put up with these crazy racist people because they needed them in elections....now the crazies have replaced them

Looks like the bear is tired of the dance and has chosen to eat them instead.

(19,982 posts)conclusion of decades of turning a blind eye to the crazies. As people like Schmidt, Stevens etc have admitted, they knew that they were there but thought they were a rag tag fringe. The emergence of Trump gave them a focal point that wasn't there up to then. Trump gave them cover, in a similar way the crazies on the far left tried to use their focal point. Thankfully the Democratic Party survived because the center held.
You can slag the Never Trumpers all you want but they worked hard to fight back against Trump, and are taking the fight to the Trumpist GOP.

The senior US Navy POW during the Vietnam War, James Stockdale (Medal of Honor recipient and retired as a Vice Admiral) used to say this regarding colleagues who once wavered in their commitment to the Code of Conduct during their ordeal but then bounced back:
Emphasis on repentant, people.

(76 posts)Nicolle Wallace didn't vote for McCain when she was running his campaign because of Sarah Palin. I give her some credit for that.

(20,631 posts)other night? Nikole Hannah Jones was part of the discussion as well, and they were talking about the racist history of the Republican party. Joy definitely brought up that the Democratic party also has plenty of recent history with racism; i.e., the Dixiecrats, who persisted into the 1970s.
Anyway, Joy brought up Ronald Reagan kicking off his 1980 campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi, under the banner of "states' rights". This is the town where 3 young civil rights workers were murdered, and their bodies were buried, by the ancestors of the low-life cretins that overran the Capitol. Steve Schmidt started sputtering and stumbling out a response, trying to say that you can't compare Reagan and Trump, but honestly, the make-up the fan club was barely any different, then and now. I think he was relieved once that segment ended...
