I just don't know if I can trust or support Gregg Smith, especially when there's many other real Democrats coming out of the woodwork to run against Boebert in 2022. That is, if she's not expelled from Congress by then.
Sorry as hell to throw ice-cold water on this.

(346 posts)The Erik Prince stuff is covered pretty thoroughly on Smith's website:

but yes, he's a very recent convert to the Democratic party, and other Democrats are jumping in:

(13,058 posts)either Prince or the group FSP which he's left. It remains to be seen who else will be jumping into the race and ends up the Dem nominee, but unless something really damning comes out about Smith i don't see a problem with him running. The article mentions that members of Congress are not required to live in the district they represent, which is a darn shame. Smith has owned his CO ranch since 2008, even though he didn't live there permanently till 7 months ago.
Let's face it - we're the Big Tent party. We're supposed to be inclusive. Just because he's a Dem convert & and had a (now-severed) relationship with Erik Prince & FSP doesn't mean he's a bad guy. We can have conservative Dems too - Steve Smith comes to mind. I'm glad we're getting converts. We need all the support we can get from good people.

(346 posts)At first glance, Kerry Donovan looks much better, but we'll see what develops. I've donated to both of them.
