Some may have thought him the ultimate drama queen too, with his over the top repeated and dire warnings that the entire fate of America's democracy rested on expelling Trump from the Oval Office, and utterly crushing each and every fascist enabling politician belonging to the Republican Party.
Except every fucking word Schmidt has said has turned out to be true. Same with Michael Cohen and Mary Trump. Not one person has ever bet wrong over estimating the danger Trump and his followers pose to America.

Yup. He did it again, and worse.

(24,644 posts)and other MSM on this. I do not doubt this could be an attempt to take down TLP. If it fails and I think it will, there will be more to come.

(23,181 posts)Some people go wrong in their private lives regardless of their political beliefs and usually they try hard to keep it a secret from their allies. Without strong evidence of a conscious cover up for Weaver by members of the Lincoln Project, there is no association of any guilt.

(26,515 posts)but we are rational and capable of discernment!
Tom Rinaldo
(23,181 posts)...were not going to listen to anything the Lincoln Project said anyway. TLP has a mission to reach perhaps the 10% of Trump voters who still have some rational ability left buried in them somewhere.
Tom Rinaldo
(23,181 posts)It makes sense to acknowledge that this Weaver thing does hurt TLP even if not does not hurt them substantially. It might make sense for them, and for pundits in general on our side, to keep a current data base of all the Trump loving Republican elected officials, party leaders and bureaucrats, significant donors and major right wing activists, and Trump humping preachers who have been ousted or indicted for being sexual predators and/or pedophiles since Trump became President. A new name seems to pop up every three weeks or so and there have been so many that I have a hard time keeping their names and right wing roles straight

(3,230 posts)After he said Elizabeth Warren was a bigger liar than Trump, I knew his was just an act to get on shows and be relevant.
As for the OP, I think every one here on DU was saying the same thing about the importance of the election long before.
Tom Rinaldo
(23,181 posts)I wrote my share of OP's about it, many did, but how many of us fully expected a majority of Republicans in the House to vote to throw out all of the votes from six certified State elections, and then actively participate in the whitewashing of a physical coup attempt on Congress? I thought my own fears were pretty extreme but I admit I underestimated what we are up against.

(15,909 posts)Hyperbole overstates the truth. Steve Schmidt has been hitting the actual terrible truth about Trump head on, truth that only sounds like exaggeration because Trump himself is a real-life exaggeration of awful human and political traits.

(7,524 posts)Ill admit, I dont even know who John Weaver is, and repeating him is part of the right-wing plan to get free airtime. And in general, smearing people for non-political behavior is the GOP brandso it would appear to be a gift for anti-Lincoln Project PACs and operatives.
Except, who the fuck knows who John Weaver is? And almost everybody knows the name Lincoln Project.
Every mention of Weaver will strengthen the Lincoln Project brand, not diminish it. This weak attempt to take the LP down like ACORN, planned Parenthood, Al Franken, or Kathy Griffin wont work because the Lincoln Project will fight back with a PR campaign of their own.
And Ill take the LP media wizards over right-wing advertisement dinosaurs any day.

(12,182 posts)...no one can deny he's a patriot. He could have gone along to get along and still be a powerful voice in the GOP, but that was a bridge too far. He took steps that were probably difficult for, and damaging to him, personally, and did it with commitment and a certain ferocity.
BION, I actually had a measure of respect for him after watching the film story of Caribou Barbie joining the McCain campaign.
