"There has never been a system yet that would not gladly sacrifice one of its own for a moment's peace, no matter how brief. If the system is to be changed, then those who would change it should pinpoint its weak spot, its blockage points, and place all the pressure on that one point until the blockage is cleared."
-- Vine Deloria, Jr.; We Talk, You Listen: New Tribes, New Turf; Dell; 1970; page 66.
There are, of course, numerous republican blockage points. Perhaps none is as glaring as Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Q-anon specimen representing Georgia's 14th district in the House of Representatives. As the impeachment trial approaches, we can be certain the radical Trump cult's insanity will gurgle to the surface. Thus, between now and then, we should be contacting elected officials, demanding that they remove her from office.
I grew up on a small farm. I've long raised chickens. If a dog kills a chicken, you tie it around their neck, so that they do not continue to kill your chickens. Greene is the dead chicken we need to tie around republican necks.

(5,634 posts)Used one myself recently (ranch related) in reference to Ted Cruz. Got post removed. Oops. 😉
Mine was a tiny bit more graphic so I get why removed. Not here to bitch. But farm life is TUFF!
We should ALL be TUFFer on some of those lawmakers that have kept the lie going.

(73,510 posts)Sometimes, talking about farms and chickens gets a harsh reaction, as Malcolm X found out. (smile) I grew very poor on a small farm, and agree with you 100% that it is tough. It did, however, keep my brothers and I in good shape for boxing.

(3,676 posts)I loved how you explained to me that my Q-Anon friend was like a hypnotized chicken.
And you're right about our crazy Marjorie Greene, or as we've been affectionately calling her, Squeaky Fromme. I think you're right that we need to hang her around the GOP's neck.
But what about Lauren Boebert, who we've called Sadie?
Do you think she is dangerous enough to kill, and was helping the insurrection from the inside?
H2O Man
(73,510 posts)I think that Boebert is of a similar strain of infection as Greene. The biggest difference at this moment is that Greene is of higher profile, hence an easier target. We will determine her fate after taking care of Greene.
Per your last question: the answer is "yes." I am certain that she could, in certain circumstances, shoot one or more people. She is a powder keg, and there are certainly circumstances that could spark her fuse. Her grasp on reality is remarkably shallow, if it exists at all.
Hermit-The-Prog
(33,261 posts)Could Boebert have been selected as a counterpoint to AOC? Do smokey rooms and fat cats play a role, still? I can just hear the talk and guffaws -- "Skinny, dark hair, female, barmaid, but with a gun! Har! The lefties can't say nothin' about her without lookin' bad!"

Classic cartoons! Man, I loved them!
Greene is trying to gain a "leadership" role within the cult. I want to help keep the spotlight on her, to help divide the republican party as 2022 approaches.

(14,808 posts)Inspired plan, yours. They OWN this betrayal. No better way to make clear who is responsible than to tie it around their necks for all to see ... and smell.

(73,510 posts)You leave it on for several days. At first, most dogs are not annoyed by the stench of the decay -- much as most republicans were not offended by the stench of Trump. They would roll in it, like Lindsey Graham did Trump, were it not secured around their neck. But after a few days, they want it gone.
The only breed that I am aware of that this does not tend to work with are Huskies. I do not know why that is, and could only speculate. But I have a clear memory of my late Grandfather telling me I was wasting my time when I had a Huskie that made a hobby of killing my birds and rabbits. She never got over her love of attacking porcupines, either. But there are no Husky republicans.

(33,261 posts)I had two dogs who liked to travel to the neighbors' and steal eggs. I rigged an electric egg to try to break that bad habit: Some fine copper wire wrapped around the egg, a Duck tape nest on an aluminum plate, and a fence charger for small animals. One dog learned and one didn't. Sadly, the latter came home one day with a .22 lodged very close to his spine.

(73,510 posts)There are two points that I think support exactly what you said here. First, we need to keep in mind the number of votes that slimebag Trump got in 2020. Second, we need to remember 2009, when far too many Good People thought with Obama as president, he would take care of business for us .....that we could sit back and relax. This created the vacuum that the "tea party" soon filled at public hearings and in the media.
This chapter of the struggle for democracy and social justice has just begun.

(23,065 posts)Biggs, Mo Brooks, Gosar, Bolert were all giving capitol tours on 1/5 to some of the people arrested and some of whom were being pointed out as being leaders or organizers. That's what I want brought to the surface, some of these assholes were involved in a plan to overturn the election and install a dictator of their choice, since all rules would be off because it would be totally illegal as hell, Drumpf thought he would have his Kristallnacht (not sure of spelling) and installation. I want them censured, removed from Congress and tried under appropriate federal sedition/treason laws.

(73,510 posts)There are many, many terrible republicans. Yet, that does not take away from what Vine pointed out. Just the opposite -- it is all the more reason to focus on Greene at this time.

(73,510 posts)Democrats have the White House, the Senate, and the House. A reasonable person might suspect that Trump's toxic nature had a major influence on both the 2018 and 2020 election results. Just my opinion, and I certainly respect your right to view things very differently.

(36,247 posts)AUSTIN, Texas Do you know how to cure a chicken-killin' dog? Now, you know you cannot keep a dog that kills chickens, no matter how fine a dog it is otherwise.
Some people think you cannot break a dog that has got in the habit of killin' chickens, but my friend John Henry always claimed you could. He said the way to do it is to take one of the chickens the dog has killed and wire the thing around the dog's neck, good and strong. And leave it there until that dead chicken stinks so bad that no other dog or person will even go near that poor beast. Thing'll smell so bad the dog won't be able to stand himself. You leave it on there until the last little bit of flesh rots and falls off, and that dog won't kill chickens again.
The Bush administration is going to be wired around the neck of the American people for four more years, long enough for the stench to sicken everybody. It should cure the country of electing Republicans.
And at least Democrats won't have to clean up after him until it is real clear to everyone who made the mess.

That's the system George W. Bush stands for: where a corporation can knowingly kill people for profit and, when it finally comes out, everyone knows the penalties will be so light the company doesn't even lose a tenth of its worth. Hey, just a little bump in the road.

but
The base still loves him.
He hasn't been tarnished enough..they need to see him as the liar, crook and con artist that he really is.
so the question is: What will unmask him to his followers?

(73,510 posts)De-programming of cult members is difficult. And many of them are definitely cult members. While some of Trump's supports will, in time, be peeled away like the skin on an onion, others will continue on this path. It's as if we have a giant Manson family in that sense.
I've been watching some of Robert Sapolsky presentayions on the hard-wiring of the brain, as I think about this. There are a lot of things involved, from the techniques of Q-anon (getting members to "do their own research," for example), to some of the unconscious, often physical factors that influence people's judgement. We are in for a group of people acting out in behaviors that combine being anti-democratic and aggressive acting out.

(58,785 posts)Good question, no answers.
Most strong conservatives are also strong on conformity, and we all need social approval. And polls keep saying there's a strong desire for a return to decency and good sense among a lot of those who voted (twice) for him. So in big terms I'm hoping that now that their leader has failed the more-sensible and/or just angry conservatives will distance from him, leaving those who cling to him and his attitudes increasingly disapproved of by people around them. Just realized I've come back to that dead chicken fix.
