The fact that Trump can't seem to find competent lawyers to defend him

against his impeachment trial, or those that thought they would have resigned, should tell Republican Senators all they need to know. He is indefensible. And yet... you know the rest.

1. Yes, the important part of the story is that Trump STILL insists the election was stolen.

The news networks should be blaring this as the topline news of the day. They've done OK but not great with that part of the story. The worst keep jumping right to the vote and asking if enough Republicans will vote to convict. That is not the top question now.

on his behalf which would have given the Repuke Senators a fig leaf to hide behind. But that wasn't what he wanted.

He wanted them to do something different -- to go in there and knowingly spew overt falsehoods about voter fraud and ballot fraud and election fraud and the election being stolen, like it was a Rudy press conference. That they were unwilling to do -- because of the legal/professional consequences.
